Following potential 2012 draftees

Nothing like Ibaka. Surprisingly given his supreme athletic ability and size, he isn't much of a shot blocker. I attribute his defensive woes to being the leader in MPG for the SEC and being way way overplayed though. He does have a natural scoring feel around the basket, which should make him a great pick n roll player if he can land on a team with a PG.

Can't say much about Thompson, but I think he is a pretty average athlete.

Wow, Cy, I feel that sold him way short. Not a shot blocker, defensive woes, no scoring feel ... nice pitch there big guy .. glad to see sales isn't in your future.

So when you were calling him a 6'11" version of Millsap, you were what----putting down Millsap?

Okay, where would you rank him next to what you know of Larry Sanders?

The only problem with not taking GS first proposal is if they make the lottery and then move up to top 6. Not likely but it would suck. I would have come back with taking off the protection/top 3 plus their second round pick #35.

I always liked that, but from what I understand, it was never in the plans. Only thing I can figure is too much youth?

Bear with me, but I would think that from KOC's point of view, he's much more interested in a chance at a guy with potential to be GREAT. Since we don't really know what we have (Burks is a big ???, as is Kanter, and even Hayward), it's hard to draft a player for a specific role. I think they just figured that a 25% shot at PJ3, Barnes, or Lillard (or whatever you could move a pick for) had a much better chance of actually improving the team in the long run. Time will tell, but I can understand that logic personally.

I wasn't there, but heard that Doron Lamb blew people away in his workouts. Text I got, "Sick crossover, surprisingly strong handles, and missed nothing, like not a shot, from anywhere." In another text I asked if there was an opinion as to whether he could play point. Response was, "definitely." Rumored that Philly is all over him.

Now, like I've said many times, everyone of the draftees could be getting similar reports, I just hear the most on the UK guys. (Also Scoop Jardine was underwhelming the scouts)

Yes, I was referring to the 35th pick, though.

That's what I'm saying. They felt a 25% shot at a player who would likely be quite good was better than a pick that would require a little more intricate knowledge of the team, and what they have and don't have going forward.

Whether that was correct or not, we'll see, but I don't mind taking a gamble at a chance for another really good player.

My reading comprehension is poor this morning (though I think we're agreeing). I was commenting I wasn't sure why KOC didn't ask for the 35th pick as well as next year's unprotected .. it was only a matter of why didn't he go that route .. if you're saying you undertsand the gamble of sticking with this years ping pong balls, I don't necessarily disagree and I get that logic .. I just wasn't referring to that in my posts .. strictly speaking to the 35.
