Following potential 2013 draftees

I saw Glenn Robinson is on the draft express board at #20. He had a very impressive start to his freshman season at Michigan scoring every which way (like his dad), rebounding, defending well - then he was invisible when Michigan needed him the most against Indiana, Wisconsin and Mich State.

GRIII finally snapped out of it against Penn State this weekend with 21 and 10, getting to the line for 11 free throws. Physically, he is NBA ready - his game only needs one more year to put him in the top 5 or 10.

Here's his dunk-a-thon against Penn State

Context, folks.

What are you hearing about whether he's coming out this year or next?

(Burke 1st pick and GR III 2nd pick, is my dream draft BTW)

Nothing at all. I think it depends on if he has a strong tournament or not and has some good momentum going into the draft. If he has an average tournament and stays projected around low 20's, I bet he stays one more year. I really think he could be a top pick next year, especially if Hardaway goes to the draft with Burke.

When he came to the program, Beilein recognized his talent and told him he's a shooter and that he needs to shoot. That he's not just a dunker/rebounder. Problem is, Michigan has so many shooters on the team that I don't think he's been able to showcase it enough - except for the 3 ball a couple times a game.

Also, he has been playing power forward in a very physical and competitive Big10 conference - would love to see him play small forward. Jalen Rose was calling for that switch during the Indiana game when GRIII was struggling to guard the bigger guys.

Anyway, would love to draft both as well!

Yeah I'm no scout, but I do see his potential as well. Strong as an ox, with a shooting touch and a great feel for the game. Not sure if he can be the No. pick next year though..

Also as PKM keeps reminding us that it'll be strong draft class next year, I hope he decides to declare this year instead!

I was thinking top as in 5-10 pick next year. But you're right, you can just tell he is super comfortable out there, has a high bball IQ and plays with a lot of confidence.

Good character guy too. Post dunk-a-thon interview....

Here's my take on GR3. His dad was supposed to be a stud. The GR2/Grant Hill matchup in the Elite 8 was the biggest one-on-one match-up of the last 30 or so years. Maybe longer. And he was mediocre at best as a pro. So that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The flip side is ex-pro's sons seem to have a far greater success rate in pro sports than the average kid.

:)

If you were GR III's advisor - would you advise him to declare this year? Or next?

Depends on his showing in the NCAA tourney. Show strong and improve to 15'ish, come out. Show not so strong, come back next year and try to improve your stock .. he was a lesser known prospect than many others, so the added year won't hurt him as much in that case.
