Following potential 2013 draftees

From ESPN players of the week.

Alex Poythress, Northeast Clarksville (Clarksville, Tenn.)
After being selected to the 2012 McDonald’s All-American Game last week, Poythress celebrated by scoring a career-high 48 points to lead Northeast Clarksville past Dickson County (Dickson, Tenn.) 68-60. The 6-foot-9 Kentucky recruit also hauled in 22 rebounds. He surpassed his previous career bests of 46 and 47 established earlier this season. Poythress is averaging better than 31 points per game, well above the 22.3 mark he turned in last winter. In addition to scoring, rebounding and leading his team to a 25-2 record, Poythress also boasts a 3.9 GPA.

I love it when this type of a thread is increasing in activity. The 2012 thread is what kept me coming back to Jazzfanz and now I'm hooked. (I blame PKM, Xthren, Spycam and Cy for my current obsession.)

We have Jazzfanz-aholics anonymous every Saturday night in my basement if you're struggling.

OT (if that's possible):

Calipari thinks he has a chance at the following class next year;

Wiggins (will reclassify and be the new #1 in the class)
Andrew Harrison
Aaron Harrison
Julius Randle
James Young

That's 5 of the top 6 players. (1, 3, 4, 5, 6) Jabari at #2
Kind of a pipe dream, even by Cal's standards .. but?

Go on.........

haha, just meant that everyone that follows cbb knows Cal gets about anyone he wants and you can't count him out.

What are your thoughts about Jabari? I know that you have mentioned you think he will go to Duke over Kentucky, but why?

He has always seemed to be heading to Duke and, for whatever reason, Calipari has not invested any time on recruiting him .. like, at all.

I'm torn on him as being the 'next.' I think he's crazy polished for his age, very good skill set, but lacks athleticism. No doubt he'll be awesome, but I'm not sure his ceiling isn't a bit lower than how he's being hyped. Others with more athleticism will catch up to his skill set as they mature but I don't see him getting more athletic.

He reminds me of a 'better' Harrison Barnes. I kind of mean that as a compliment, actually, I just don't see Lebron, Kobe, etc .. like a lot of people are suggesting. That's Wiggins.

Wiggins is officially reclassifying? Damn, that's going to be a MONSTER draft class. Imagine if Noel was still part of that group..

Jabari's athleticism is the reason I've always been torn on the Shabazz vs. Jabari debate. Not that he isn't athletic, but he's not an elite athlete. Absolutely love the kid though.

As for your "better Barnes" comparison...it's not bad. His offensive game seems much more well rounded (better handles and passing etc.)

Can't believe we have to wait another year for him to start college.

He offensive game is so mature for someone his game. I doubt he will be playing above the rim in the NBA but he doesn't need to. His bag of tricks seems so diversified that he will find a way to get his shot off and be effective.
