Following potential 2013 draftees

Whoa whoa whoa there.. these mock drafts, including Chad's.. isn't a great reflection of scouts' opinions. Almost every scout I ever talk to think the mocks are a mockery..

A well respected journalist David Aldridge said this at the beginning of his piece on this year's draft:

This is the time of year when you have to pick up the phone and call/text people who are determined not to tell you what they're actually thinking. You have to do this because while the rest of Earth is celebrating/lamenting March Madness, the clock is ticking toward the June NBA Draft, and it's time to start ranking prospects.

It does not bother me that people are lying. I expect it. Like I expect animals to wallow in mud and fling things at me if I get too close to them. It's what they do.

Very few people are going to honestly tell you the players they like in a regular year. But the new Collective Bargaining Agreement makes keeping one's Draft picks even more valuable -- rookie players are on rookie deals, which can go as long as five years, and having such players on your roster is essential to having any chance to maintain salary cap discipline.

So it is tough being a journalist trying to decipher talent at the moment as scouts/GM's aren't necessarily telling the truth.

Burke will be gone by 12. He's more ready than MCW.

That's true..

But if you can fix his shooting & handle, I think he has a lot of upside. His dribble & dish game is already pretty decent because he can finish at the rim and defenders have to respect that. If he can knock down that 3's at around 36-37% rate, he could be pretty good.

He's much more of a project than Burke, but if you're patient, he could be pretty good. May be a late bloomer like Bledsoe?

I would love to give horny a chance to fix it. his shooting is what scares me the most.

I'm not a scout, I'm sure a scout/Horny/KOC/Lindsey can tell whether or not that shot is fixable. If it's fixable, I'd be inclined to take him over McCollom.

If he can sets up Kanter, Favors & shoot the 3's, I think that's the kind of PG we need.

Don't forget - Kendall Marshal's concern last year were that he can't score. At least MCW can finish strong at the rim and is much more athletic.

PKM - at least Chad Ford agrees with you re Brad Stevens in his chat:

Kris (Arlington, VA)

Which NCAA head coach would you like to see get a shot in the NBA?

Chad Ford

Brad Stevens. First of all, he's a basketball genius. Second, he has the demeanor that I think would work in the pros. He motivates with reason, not with screaming and power plays. I think GMs are crazy not to bring him in.

LOL.. makes me wonder how Corbin motivates our player.. hahaha..
