Following potential 2013 draftees

He is getting better almost every game. He seems to have some good defensive instincts.

And offense is coming quickly. He's already ahead, well ahead, of Noel.

I want to see a FT contest between he and Drummond.

Ouch.

Sounds like KOC is in Stillwater catching the Kansas St. & Ok. State.

Breaking: Kevin O'Connor, sitting two seats to my right, just returned to press row with a cup of coffee and some nachos.

Marcus Smart?

Smart will be gone.
Nash doesn't seem like a Jazz type player, imo. (but would be my guess)
Brown doesn't make much sense because he wouldn't be taken by our 1st round picks and will likely be gone by our 2nd .. but maybe not..

Talking to NBA scouts: Alex Poythress & Archie Goodwin no longer locks for 1st round. On Goodwin "What good is a SG that cant shoot?"

According to nbadraft.net

That's all. Waiting for PKM's reaction.

2 things;

1) that site blows
2) I've done more bashing of those two players than any other person on this board, by a mile.

I would take Goodwin. Fire, talent, length, athleticism, plays hard.
I would say pass on Poythress, all the size, talent, and skill, but no fire ... at all.

I wonder how closely KOC is looking at Marcus Smart. I'm guessing he falls into the 4-6 range come draft day. If our top pick is 12-13, it'd likely take a hefty package to move up that high.

Still, we've shown a willingness to go get our guy at the PG spot if we've zeroed in on a certain prospect.

Smart in a Jazz uniform next year would be quite the sight.

I don't know, I just don't see Smart as worth the price to move up to 3/4 .. considering what will be in the teens. I would imagine we'd have to part with a member of the C4.

I feel the same way. I think we've got a decent shot at getting Burke or McCollum without giving up any of the C4. I'd much rather do that.

I scouted four games (vs Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas St.) of BONGO to get a better idea of how he scores the ball. The stats show he has a very well rounded scoring game. Here is where his offense comes from:

Spot up 3-pointers: ~29% of total points scored

Free throws: ~17% of total points scored

Low post up moves: ~13% of total points scored

Fast break opportunities: ~13% of total points scored

High post moves: ~11% of total points scored

Mid range spot up jumpers: ~6% of total points scored

Drives: ~4% of total points scored

Offensive put-back's: ~4%

Alley-oop dunks: ~2% of total points scored

BONGO seems to be a really underrated 3-point shooter. It's where he gets the majority of his points from, and in these games he shot 64% (9/14) on spot up 3's. On the season he's shooting 42% on 3.5 attempts per game from 3.

Another area that really stood out was his ability to score out of the high post. 11% of his offense came here, but the more impressive thing was that he shot 71% from the high post (post moves outside of 10 feet is how I measured it). It's a small sample size, but I do believe he has an elite post game for a perimeter player his age.

He aslo scores out of the low post, and gets to the FT line at a great rate like any good scorer should.

The main thing missing from his scoring arsenal is his ability to take his man off the dribble. But, he's better at it than the 4% would suggest, cause sometimes he would drive, then be met by another defender and end up shooting a jump hook out of the low/high post, so I counted the points in those categories.

He scores all over the court, both within the flow of the offense (coming of screens for spot up jumpers etc.) and by creating his own shot. If he ever improves his handle the way he improved his 3-pointer (that was one of the nocks on his game coming out of high school), then watch out.

Looking at the Jazz draft history. Anyone noticed that the Jazz drafts mostly from either Europe or the South?

From 2000 onwards they picked 29 players. 4 from California in Snyder, Stevenson, Sampson and Collins, 2 from Dallas D-Will and CJ Miles. 1 from Brent Arbor Michigan (Whaley). 80% were from Europe or the South.

You've restored my Bongo love.
