What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

I'm now starting to think that as a pro prospect Austin might be as good as, or better than, both Dieng and Olynyk.

Here are his highlights from the NIT... He's got energy, motor and shooting touch from mid-range and out to 20 feet. He's several frames quicker than Olynyk and Dieng and has a lot of natural talent. He's got a running hook shot across the lane and a turn-around jumper that are virtually unguardable.

Austin has major deficiencies.. but may have the greatest upside of the entire draft.

What's the major deficiency--strength/weight?

Edit: I think he's going to be good. He plays with a lot of confidence and IQ. You can tell he's got the game mentally. That's huge in my book.

A few off the top of my head:

1. Soft
2. Weight/Strength (though I think he has a good frame to gain enough weight)
3. Didn't play at UK

If we can't get McCollum at 14, I would be game for Austin as our 3rd big and Giannis at 21. I agree that Austin shouldn't be there at 21. The question then is whether Giannis is still on the board at 21.

Austin at #21 is ****ing tantalizing. I daresay impossible to pass on there.

We are talking about possibly being able to get him at 14. I would take him over anyone else at 14 who is likely to be available.

At 21 it would be a ridiculous no-brainer.

I believe the discussion of Austin at 21 started from Chad Ford's new big board which has him at 21... as ridiculous that that is..
