Following potential 2013 draftees

Well the thing is though, he Schroeder went head to head against Kasey Hill who some of us had a hard-on over (including me and AlexBurks_PGgods, amongst others). Schroeder is slightly older, but he completely outplayed Hill in this game IMO. Physically Schroeder had a bigger frame, was better defensively, controls the game better and was just more mature out there on the court. They both had pretty similar speed & quickness though it seems. But Hill was quite a bit smaller... I would say Schroeder held his own against Andrew Harrison as well.

Now, Hill is a projected lotto pick next year if I'm not mistaken in a loaded draft? So if we can get Schroeder at #14 in this much weaker draft I think it would be a bargain. Granted, we're taking on a bit of a project, but early signs are there that he could be a legit talent.

Good points, but like you said, he's older, and playing against other pro's... He should be much better. In my mind it doesn't mean he will be a better pro. Next years draft is loaded, and if you believe like I do in thinking we will get a mid to late lotto pick we will get a very good pg.

Why not get a good backup pg in this draft in Wolters and Canaan, along with a third big in Adams, and a project in Austin or the GF, and shoot for the fences next year and get our pg of the future, and if we just miss out on the playoffs again like this year, we can at the very least get Smart.

I actually think that Schroe is better than any of the other PG's next year not named Harrison.

To be honest with you, I'd take Schroeder over Smart right now. I'd rather have my PG be really quick and fast, pushing the tempo, finding guys - than someone who posts up smaller PG on the block (we already have Favors & Kanter doing that). Also Schroeder is already a better 3pt shooter than Smart and he is a good defender, he moves his feet and he sticks to you.

In terms of intangibles, yeah Smart is right up there. But don't forget, Schroeder had 1 week to get these International guys playing together - and he did that. He just seems like a natural leader out there on the floor.

I from what I have seen from both I would always take Schroe over Smart.

I like what I've seen from Schroeder, but come on... Better than smart????. Maybe one day, but no one would be selecting him over smart and if you don't believe me then lets stop talking about him now because he is out of our reach.

My thing is Schroe is a big mystery. How many times have you seen him play. If he is this good why isn't he projected in the Burke range?

Flavor of the Week.

Last week it was McCollum. Then we over-hyped him ,in our minds, to be out of our reach.

Now we are hyping Schroeder up. Pretty soon he will be a top 10 pick in the eyes of Jazzfanz and unreachable.
