I was thinking the same thing before I really watched him play more closely.

Don't like him. Not an elite enough of a shooter, like a Bonner, to really be a good stretch 4 in the league given his faults (****ty rebounder, ****ty defender, soft).

very true and I recognize that completely. in the second round I wouldn't complain. he at least has 1 nba trait, he can shoot the ball well.

I sucked calling that draft worse than any other, ever.

The hayward draft i thought we had to get a big cause we had just lost boozer and memo had that achilles injury so i actually wanted us to take in order... Whiteside, aldrich, ed davis..... Holy hell im glad i was wrong on that one. I hated the hayward pick, but didn't hate it as much once we picked up jeffy.

The kanter draft the jazz picked both of the guys that i was hoping for (though i didn't think burks was realistic cause i thought he would go around 8 or 9th.)
I was extremely happy with the results of that draft.

Very encouraged by what I read on this.

Here are some highlights:

Featuring terrific ball-handling skills, a lightning quick first step, excellent speed in the open floor, and a penchant for getting teammates involved, Schroeder did an outstanding job in both transition and in the half-court, getting to virtually wherever he wanted on the floor. He executed his team's offense effectively, doing a good job of pushing the ball inside when needed, and finding teammates constantly spotting up on the perimeter or cutting to the rim for a layup after blowing past his man.

When defenses decided to go under the screen, Schroeder's pull-up jumper was enough of a weapon here for him to punish them, and he generally did a solid job through the week of convincing scouts that the 40% he's shooting from the 3-point line is not a fluke, despite his average mechanics. Schroeder is making a ridiculous 53% of his catch and shoot jumpers on the season in Germany according to Synergy Sports Technology, even if the sample size of 57 shots leaves something to be desired, he was very consistent throughout the week in Portland.

His defense:

On the other end of the floor, Schroeder did an excellent job as well. He measured a solid 6-2 in shoes with an excellent 6-7 ¼ wingspan, and looked intent on using it every moment he was on the court. Schroeder's lateral quickness might be the best of any point guard in this year's draft class, as he's able to put suffocating pressure on the ball in the full-court, bodying up his matchup and sliding with him every inch he takes up the court. He will need to continue to fill out his slender 168-pound frame, but there is a lot to like here despite his average size.

Attitude:

Schroeder has come a long way in the past year or so, both on and off the court. He appears to have matured with his body language and overall approach to the game, and did an excellent job of leading the World Team by example all week in Portland, which culminated in a big win over the American team on Saturday.

Combine his jump-shot with his first step, open-court speed and ability to get teammates involved, and you have a pretty complete skill-set for a NBA point guard

If he is as good as this suggests then forget Shroeder, because he would clime to top 5-10.

I think Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is a sleeper in this draft. He's a lottery-caliber talent, although he may not go in the lottery. Not that he's all that relevant for us. I'd take him over Karasev and probably Goodwin if it came down to that.

NBA athlete with good size for SG
Solid, confident shooting stroke
Ability to finish on the break and around the rim
Decent defender with greater defensive potential
