Guys that the Jazz might get with their first round picks - maybe one falls to their second round pick but probably not.
Mason Plumlee, Olynyk, CJ McCollum, Giannis, Schroeder, Steven Adams, Dieng, Karasev, Green, Withey, Kabongo, Archie Goodwin, Wolters.
I bolded the guys that jump out to me as maybe special (if anyone could be called special in this draft).
I'm kinda cooling on Giannis. He looks a little slow. I feel better about the bolded guys.
I don't mind the idea of getting another big for the bench. I think there are guys suited to that role, meaning they seem to have a decent shot at being a pretty good big off the bench. Which is valuable. Just dunno which ones I like better. Their respective strengths/weaknesses all kinda bleed into an equal vanilla. Maybe that's why if the Jazz do grab a big I'm leaning towards getting him with the 21st pick rather than the 14th, as some have wondered about. I think I like CJ, Schroeder, and Goodwin all better than Green, Kabongo, or Wolters.
Goodwin might be had at 21.
If the Jazz got either CJ or Schroeder with the 14th, would I want Goodwin at 21 or a big (Adams, Dieng, Withey)?

The Jazz had the worst PGs in the league last year. I think CJ or Schroeder are likely on the menu at #14. The only question is whether Schroeder is really on the same tier as other players available at 14. There's also an elephant in the living room here in that Michael Carter-Williams may be available at #14, and I'm mildly concerned that the Jazz might actually take him.
Then we can just wait and see who's there at #21. There will be a few interesting players on the board. Yes, Goodwin could be there, but I'd doubt it. Giannis could be there. Karasav could be there, and he could be special as a floor spacer. I think Erick Green could be an impact player off the bench a la Leandro Barbosa. I do think Wolters has a chance to be a decent pro. The only knock is lack of athleticism, but he makes up for quite a bit with his craftiness and IQ. I think to myself that if Ricky Rubio is athletic enough to get by, why not Wolters? There's a chance that Dario Saric slips to 21, and I wonder if he's worth taking there. Many options.
I'd like to get a read on Norvel Pelle. He was once a top-5 college recruit, has some physical similarities with Keving Garnett, but he never played in college? Does he have mental midget syndrome?

MCW or Schroeder - take whoever's available, I'd be happy with either. They're both above average passers. MCW beats you with length, gives you defense with his long arms. Schroeder beats you with speed, gives you defense with his quick feet. They're both young and hungry.
I'm sure either one will be a significant upgrade to Mo/Earl/Tins.
Not sure how anyone can be sure any PG this draft is an upgrade over Mo.. sans Burke.
When mired in mediocrity, I want change. I want change for the sake of change.. even if it ultimately proves not an upgrade. I just tire of expecting better results from the same personnel and plan.
