Following potential 2013 draftees

Olynyk is an amazingly productive basketball player. If he measures out well, I see no reason his offensive game won't translate to the NBA.

I just don't see Schroeder being there at 21. That would make drafting Olynyk a tough call because I'm all but positive he won't be there at 21.

I don't think Schroeder will be there either, I don't think he'll slide past Atlanta. I would definitely take a point guard at 14 (Schroeder > MCW > Larkin), and then roll the dice with a big like Adams or Dieng.

I am beginning to come around on olynyk. I think he could be a legit third big for a while for us. Hopefully drafting him would stop us from signing two more vets to start in front of favors and kanter. Honestly, looking at the draft pick left, what else are we going to get outside of winning the lotto?

Dieng will likely be gone before we pick at 14. Seems like Schroeder would be a gamble at 21, let alone 14.

For sure.

There are a handful of guys I like around our picks.

Its true that its a terrible draft if you're drafting top 10, but I think the draft is average to above average where we are picking.

Agreed. I think this is a good draft to be in the #14 - #21 range.

Oh wow.

You know I'm usually 100% against the tall white guy pick, but there's two in this draft I really wouldn't mind, Olynyk and Withey... though Withey would be with the 21st pick of course.

I think the trick is this draft is going to be playing it cool and getting the value picks.

Good PGs are drafted all the time in the 20s... Rondo, Nelson, Tony Parker, Vasquez, Jarret Jack, Nate Robinson, Lowry, George Hill, Maynor, even Reggie Jackson and Norris Cole if you want to generous. Bledsoe and Teague were 18 and 19 also. It happens alot!

Edit: What's with the no spaces between paragraphs? is it just this computer I'm on?

Agreed re PGs picked in the 20s, which I think is due to the fact that GMs would rather pick a big in the teens to play backups rather than picking a backup PG so early on. Looking at previous draft I see Hansbrough being picked before Ty Lawson, Collison, Maynor, for example. I guess teams are thinking, if we're gonna risk a pick, at least give me someone with size that I can stick under the basket and rebound.

However, because we already have Kanter & Favors who are so young, I'm pretty sure the FO will sign a vet 3rd big to back them up, or play Favors & vet, Kanter coming off the bench with big minutes. Evans will be 4th big, and Marv. 5th big.

If they decide to do that, then I think Olynyk is out of the question at #14. Also if the FO is confident in their assessment of Schroeder or MCW, I think they're brave enough to take him that early (remember the Hayward pick?).

The fact that Schroeder might be gone by #21 would also play a role.
