What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

I laugh at anyone who thinks all Randle can do is score and rebound, tbh.

What else does he do well enough to warrant a top 10 selection?

He doesn't pass. He doesn't defend. Outside of FT's, he hasn't shown that he can hit jump shots well. He can dribble well for a PF, but about average for a SF. He has below-average length. He's very aggressive, and he's always going to play hard, but that will only take you so far.

So again, what else does he do, outside of turn the ball over?

According to Nickkkkkkkk.

Julius Randle can shoot, defend, create/pass, and rebound: 15/10 on 50% from the floor, 15% from 3, and 70% from the line. 1.4 assists, 0.5 steal, 0.8 blocks per game.

Dario Saric cannot shoot, defend, doesn't have the length, or explosiveness: 17/10 on 49.7% from the floor, 34.5% from 3, and about 70% from the line. 3 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.

Might I also add that Saric plays against grown *** men.

everyone has really soured on Randle in this thread i still have him at 7. for all the things he cant do, he can start right away

he fits next to Demarcus Cousins @7
If Monroe leaves, he fits next to Drummond @8
he definitely fits with the 76ers 2nd pick @10
If they dont trade the pick, he most likely fits with the Lakers@6

Well Calipari played Randle at the PF all season long, I don't think you can expect him to have the assist numbers that a typical SF would have. If you he had played Randle at the SF, I'm pretty sure he'll have a lot more assists, he'll get better looks from 3's, etc, etc, etc.

That's why I felt the need to post these videos to show you that it's not enough just to simply look at the box scores. If watching the Box Score is be all and end all, then scouts would be out of the jobs.

That's why I felt the need to post these videos and not just simply look at the box score. But if watching the box score is your thing, then go ahead. But then all the scouts would be out of the job cos there would be no need to do actual real scouting work and determine whether the guy can ball.

And if you actually watched the games, you would realize that Randle doesn't shoot from deep well, doesn't pass well, and sure as hell doesn't defend well.

You can't just ignore the numbers nicky boy, they do tell part of the story. Certainly not the entire story, but you can't just ignore them.

Considering he was supposed to be drawing double and triple teams all season i would expect his assist numbers to be higher than that, pf or no pf

He doesn't do those things well RIGHT NOW because he had been playing the PF position all season long and Calipari just had him deep in the post most of the time.

To me he will be OK as a PF, but with the right development by a dedicated team, he has the 'potential' to be GREAT at the SF position as he's already physical enough dominate any SFs in the NBA not named LeBron. He needs to improve handling and shooting, but if Millsap can do it - so can Randle.

There's a difference between passing freely in open court, and passing out in duress while you're doubled or triple teamed.

This is how Randle was guarded all year. He averaged a little over an assist per game.

He's a great passer guys!!!
