Following potential 2014 draftees

On the Harrison twins:
Like, Andrew in the small period of time that I worked with him the other day, Aaron is unbelievable getting to his (left). He's better than I thought. Everybody's saying Andrew is way above Aaron, that's not true. You won't believe this: They really look the same. Like, they do. And I'm telling you he went to his left hand, shouldered and laid (in) easily, like lefty. And I'm like saying, 'He may be a strong left driver.' Andrew seemed to want to go a little more right. When he went left, he didn't do it as well. I told Aaron after, 'You need to teach your brother what you're doing going left, because I'd like him to be able to go left and maybe start the offense on the left side instead of the right side.' But I can't do that unless he can go hard left like that. But Aaron did stuff, like, I'm like 'Wow, I didn't realize.' So, I'm going to learn about them. I don't know all the stuff about these kids.

He also gave a detailed account of exactly why last year ended up the way it did.. but it's not board relevant. (and I am a Jazz purist with re: to content.. and family friendly)

Don't be ghey. Tell us!!

A lot of this has been known but not everything was put together and said directly by Cal himself until yesterday.

He said that up until the F4 Marquis Teague was 100% coming back to school. There was no doubt at all. Then, Teague goes on an incredible run to a championship and his stock rises quickly. Calipari met with him and, very unlike what he normally does, tries to convince Teague that it's fools gold and that he would be much better served to come back another year. Marquis' brother Jeff convinced him the time to strike NBA dollars was now. Cal thanked him for the chip and wished him all the luck.

Now looking at his roster and knowing Teague would have been a battle tested PG to lead the group of Noel, Poythress, Goodwin, etc.. with Harrow as a not-much-needed backup. So he said he faced a choice. Try to go out last minute and sign another PG but the pickings were very slim or just dig in, coach his *** off like never before and hope for the best. He also admitted yesterday that he knew VERY EARLY that he would be getting the Harrison twins and also didn't want to do anything to compromise 'this' year's class.

So he decided to roll out the team with Harrow and potentially Goodwin running the point. Both obviously proved to be inadequate.

He said last year was 100% on me and I will never let that happen again, ever. (although when you're a OAD school .. like UK is more so than anyone else, by far.. it's somewhat inevitable to happen from time to time)

So he

Every coach/person speaks like that, obvi. Just a matter of whether the writer feels like cleaning it up.

I can't believe you didn't think that was even a little bit funny. I'm like wow.

It stuck out to me as I read.

Thanks for the posts and the info, but I'm not sorry at all for being a jerk. *shrug

poythress would be a nice get with the second pick. can play the 3 or the 4. of course this all depends on who we get first.

I'm like, wow, that's like some good stuff in there. I'm gonna learn about this coach, geez, you know.

Imagine a writer had to clean up this guy's language ;)
Whenever I watch/attend a press conference of him I try to keep track of his stats. He leads the league in 'you know like's per minute.

I'd probably prefer Aaron Harrison or James Young. I really want some serious 3 point shooting to surround Favors/Kanter with.

But who knows how any of these guys will pan out? I need the season to start already. Like, I NEED it.

A Calipari quote from yesterday that many will find controversial, I bet.

Yea not only is it controversial but stupid. There are screens in a pick and roll offense. I liked your list but wasn't Calipari at Memphis when they had violations?

1) ncolorado was attacking UK, not Cal.. and UK has no violations.
2) the NCAA has publicly stated that there was no way Cal was involved in the DRose stuff. In fact, not even Memphis was involved.

The facts as EVERYONE agrees are as follows;

- IF DRose did cheat on his entrance exam, it was prior to even choosing a college. There was/is nothing at all implicit that Memphis was involved in it.
- The NCAA has absolutely zero proof, none, that DRose cheated. It was merely a rumor started more than a year later.
- When the rumor surfaced, the NCAA, in their infinite wisdom, sent a letter to DRose requiring him to PROVE he didn't cheat on the exam.
This had two problems;
A) how does one prove he didn't cheat?
B) by this time Rose was the starting PG for the Bulls and because he had NOTHING to lose either way, chose to give the NCAA the middle finger.
- because Rose failed to prove to the NCAA he didn't cheat they presumed guilt and ruled him academically ineligible.
- in doing so, the NCAA deemed Memphis to have played an ineligible player, slapped them with violations, and vacated wins for that year.
- one problem is that its the NCAA that has the clearinghouse that examines players records and gives the green light to a college to play a certain player, or not. And in this case Memphis was told Rose was cleared and good to go. So Memphis played him.

This is one of the most assinine cases of stupidity ever in sports, imo. The NCAA admits they have no proof. They admit they cleared Rose to play. They admit Rose took the exam before ever even choosing a college. They admit Memphis was not involved in the act .. if that act indeed happened. They then penalize an entire university, it's players, coaches, fans, etc for something one high school kid MAY have done.

Part of the outcry from media and other college coaches was, at the time, "why doesn't the NCAA penalize itself, or take responsibility for having cleared a player that they ALONE later deemed was ineligible. Awfully abusive and dumb for that org to have acted completely independently in both the clearing of, and ruling the ineligibility of, DRose... and decide to punish Memphis for it. Ridiculous.

I'm over Poythress now. I loved him before last season. If he drops to early 2nd get him otherwise I'll pass.

If you loved him before last season, but because of that season have since dropped him.. wouldn't it be smarter to say that you're currently not high on him but need to see how he plays this year?

Hint: this is the way I see it which is concrete evidence of it being smarter.

this is my stance but I think in the early 20s poythress is the kind of bench players teams need. he can play the 3 and the 4. he has the potential have monster games off the bench but dis appear in others.

now if the jazz got Parker or randle I wouldn't get poythress. if the got a wing or pg then poythress makes since.

it also depends on how Burke plays. if he is ROY material then 2 or 3 is more important. if favors plays passive then 4 or 5 become important. so many questions just let the season begin.

Nope. I failed in my evaluation. Time to move on.
