Following potential 2014 draftees

1) ncolorado was attacking UK, not Cal.. and UK has no violations.
2) the NCAA has publicly stated that there was no way Cal was involved in the DRose stuff. In fact, not even Memphis was involved.

The facts as EVERYONE agrees are as follows;

- IF DRose did cheat on his entrance exam, it was prior to even choosing a college. There was/is nothing at all implicit that Memphis was involved in it.
- The NCAA has absolutely zero proof, none, that DRose cheated. It was merely a rumor started more than a year later.
- When the rumor surfaced, the NCAA, in their infinite wisdom, sent a letter to DRose requiring him to PROVE he didn't cheat on the exam.
This had two problems;
A) how does one prove he didn't cheat?
B) by this time Rose was the starting PG for the Bulls and because he had NOTHING to lose either way, chose to give the NCAA the middle finger.
- because Rose failed to prove to the NCAA he didn't cheat they presumed guilt and ruled him academically ineligible.
- in doing so, the NCAA deemed Memphis to have played an ineligible player, slapped them with violations, and vacated wins for that year.
- one problem is that its the NCAA that has the clearinghouse that examines players records and gives the green light to a college to play a certain player, or not. And in this case Memphis was told Rose was cleared and good to go. So Memphis played him.

This is one of the most assinine cases of stupidity ever in sports, imo. The NCAA admits they have no proof. They admit they cleared Rose to play. They admit Rose took the exam before ever even choosing a college. They admit Memphis was not involved in the act .. if that act indeed happened. They then penalize an entire university, it's players, coaches, fans, etc for something one high school kid MAY have done.

Part of the outcry from media and other college coaches was, at the time, "why doesn't the NCAA penalize itself, or take responsibility for having cleared a player that they ALONE later deemed was ineligible. Awfully abusive and dumb for that org to have acted completely independently in both the clearing of, and ruling the ineligibility of, DRose... and decide to punish Memphis for it. Ridiculous.

Thanks for setting me straight on the Memphis stuff. The NCAA sucks and has too much power. Still his comments about the pick n roll seem dumb and if he really believes that he should never go to the NBA.

My one concern with the Jazz right now is that Burke doesn't look like a PG who can get into the lane and all the way to the rim. I like Burke as a player, but I think Andrew Harrison or Marcus Smart would likely make the Jazz a better team. Exum could also come into play. The Jazz are going to have to make some hard decisions this next offseason.
