Following potential 2015 draftees

That would be a good outcome. I'm a broken record, but the defensive length and quickness between Oubre and Exum can be stifling.

But can't you say the same thing about Looney if you decide to play him at the 3? Plus Looney has better length and seems to shoot it better from 3 as well.

Chad Ford's new big board updated 29th April also has Oubre at #12.

Scouts have a love-hate relationship with Oubre. On upside (thanks to crazy length and a diverse skill set) he has as much as, or more than, Winslow or Hezonja. But he's also the rawest of the prospects. His defense improved dramatically as a freshman, but his shot selection and assertiveness -- along with his ballhandling abilities -- are still in question. Over the next two months he'll get matched up a lot with Winslow and Johnson in workouts. That might be a tough one for him given his relative lack of strength compared to the other two. He's going to have to show toughness and hit a lot of shots in workouts to move past either of them -- especially Winslow.

Yep. Not sure when we'd actually get to see that duo in the back court though, cause we're pretty stacked on the wings right now with Burks coming back and the emergence of Hood. Not that I would let that stop me from drafting him.

Oubre's wingspan is only an inch shorter than Looney's. So in terms of position, Oubre is longer.

It also remains to be seen if Looney could spend time at the 3 in the NBA. I think the potential for that is there, but it shouldn't just be assumed.

In the end, I like what both bring to the table. They've got good upside, especially at #12. I'll be happy with either, but I think it's more likely to be Looney.

I think Looney is probably a 4 most often, or at least he's not a good enough 3 to play ahead of Hood or Burks in the wing rotation. I say that because I don't have confidence that he'll score much. If we're talking 4s, I still like Portis ahead of Looney.

I do like Oubre's potential but since Tomic isn't coming over, we do kinda need a back-up Center.

Yes, but I don't think we should use our (probably) last lottery pick for need. There's still free agency and trades to fill the gap at center, not to mention Pleiss. We need to use this last lottery pick to add as much talent to the team as possible.

Anyone remember what Paul George's shortcomings were coming into that 2009 draft? Were they similar to what Oubre's concerns from this draft?

Well Paul George had issues with TOs, but is an excellent leaping ability. He shot around 35% from 3's in this final year of college - similar to Oubre.

Does Oubre have excellent leaping ability?

Not like George's leaping ability. Oubre is a smooth athlete with decent explosion, but I don't expect him to test with a 40" vertical by any means.
