Following potential 2015 draftees

Watching Winslow reminds me of Deshawn Stevenson. He doesn't strike me as being our guy. He'll be a rotation player, but I'm not sure what he'll do that makes him much more. He's a perimeter defender and a guy who runs out on breaks. He'll go rebound if he's in range.

I think the Jazz WILL try to move up for top-7 talent in this draft. However, beyond that, I think they're really in the market for a stretch-big. They need a PF who can shoot from 18 - 25 feet. Keep an eye on Porzingis, Turner, Looney and Portis. There's still a chance they'll fall in love with Oubre and that he'll be there when we draft, but they'd have to conclude that he's markedly better than Hood and that there are enough minutes around Hayward and Burks in the rotation.

I'm watching Winslow v. NC, and he doesn't look good. He's hesitant to shoot, is hesitant to drive and just can't seem to do much in the half court.
Dante's twin separated at birth?

And agree this pick MIGHT be traded. But that's a tough decision. You MAYBE get a guy with a couple of years left before he's a free agent. With a draft pick, you have a cheap player for 4 years and can keep him for another 4 before he's an UFA. We aren't going to contend this year or next. We'll make the playoffs, but not contend. I think the time for trading picks might be 2017.

I predict the kings will draft wcs if he is available. the desperately need a defensive presence and he is the best and a great fit next to cousins.

hezonja is the best prospect outside the top 4 for the jazz. I like Johnson a lot and probably comes in 1b for me. if the jazz stay put booker is my pick with looney coming in second. I wouldn't mind the jazz drafting booker and trading him and hood for hezonja. Orlando seems to be a good trade partner and they might even like turner a lot or looney.

Serious question: is Booker really better than Fournier? Orlando will be higher in the draft order and will go BPA. They'll get a top-6 pick, and they need shooting as much or more than we do. Hezonja or Porzingis could be going to Orly. Hezonja could be the perfect SF for them.

Watch out for the 2024 draft. My daughter had another double-double today. She had 10 points, 20 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. Also made several girls pull the ball back down. Only one assist, though. I fear she's becoming a bit of a black hole now that she's learned how to score.

Okay, I'll do a quick mock based on the current draft order:

1 - Knicks take Towns - will develop offensively and provides better rim protection that Okafor
2 - Sixers take Okafor - Okafor can't go lower than #2; Sixers may trade the pick though
3 - T'wolves take Russell - BPA and they'll slide Wiggins to the SF, where he probably is already. Plus, there's PG insurance for Rubio.
4 - Lakers take Mudiay - PG of the future
5 - Magic take Hezonja - athletic wing playing between Oladipo and Aaron Gordon
6 - Kings take Cauley-Stein - rim projector with upside replacing Jason Thompson; they could go Porzingis here though.
7 - Nuggets take Porzingis - perceived BPA, though they could go Johnson
8 - Pistons take Johnson - They need an SF and get an SF. They'll take a look at Oubre too.

9 - Jazz take Oubre, Turner or Looney after a long conversation about Devin Booker, Frank Kaminsky and Jerian Grant.

Jazz take whoever is left at #12. Grant is a name we don't hear a lot about. Credit to you for thinking he'll rise; we'll see. Like his size, though.
No Winslow? He'd fit with what seems to be our motto: Win Slow.

At this juncture I like Oubre quite a bit. Good side, Smooth athlete, sweet stroke, and considerable upside.

I think the Jazz should go for upside, and I actually think Oubre is the right pick, unless you're willing to wait to develop Turner. The FO might figure Hood's good enough, we have Hayward at the 3, and we really want a stretch-big. Oubre will have to impress.

Winslow is dropping a bit for me. Just nothing stands out really other than decent on-the-ball defense and willingness to go after rebounds. He's also good in the open court though. He's tougher than Alec Burks, but really not as good.

Looney would basically be our attempt to find the next Draymond Green. I'm okay with it, but I don't see him as a guy who can really create offense.

I like Hood a lot but my concerns are his feet, lack of strength and lack of athleticism. I think he's a good second unit guy but I'm not sure he's the guy you want in your starting lineup if you want a title. I think Oubre has all the physical tools and skills to one day be a great starting 2 or 3 on a contender.

Also, I would probably compare Looney to Lamar Oden, not Draymond Green.

I don't think Looney is as good as Odom. Odom had better mobility, a tighter handle and could get above the rim much easier than Looney seems to.

I just found this video from last year. It's 18 year old Vezenkov leading his team to the Greek cup final with his best performance at the time(24 pts, 10 rbs, 4 ast, 1 bl):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bT4xIp05sOk

I love his shot. Very compact, high and extremely quick release. It's weird how he gets it off even with people right in his face.
