Following potential 2015 draftees

I think there are scenarios where the Jazz could trade up, but it won't be far....like moving up from 10 to 7 or 8 by throwing in a player or future pick.

I don't honestly see another team giving us Hezonja, maybe Porzingis or Turner if the team's not sold on those guys.

Without lottery luck, we aren't going to get Towns, Okafor, Mudiay, Russell, Hezonja, Winslow or WCS. Probably Porzingis either. After that the talent levels a bit and it could be beauty in the eye of the beholder, meaning a team could be swayed.

Johnson, Oubre, Turner, Looney ... or Kaminsky.

Or we say **** it and draft a combo guard.

For where we're picking, I think Spy sums it up best when he said our best case scenario would be either Kaminsky or Johnson.

Oubre, Turner and Looney are all just a bit too risky for me. And I don't know if the Jazz as an organisation is big on taking this kind of risk.

Exum and Kanter were incredibly risky picks. Zero college or workout experience for both.
Maybe Hayward, Favors, and Gobert's emergence changes that a little, but I still see them passing on a "no star chance" player like Frank.

OK let's look at these guys one-by-one then.

Kanter - that draft was pretty bereft of talent with guys like Barnes pulling out of the draft. Kanter was considered a lock and by far the best talent at 3. In fact many expected Minny to take him 2nd.

Exum - Similarly he's considered a top 4 pick, the fact that he dropped to 5 to me means the pick can be considered a 'safe' pick for us.

Hayward - safe pick for what he brings (shooting, ball handling).

Favors - a little risky, but we had to take what we were given for DWill

Burks - He was pegged around 7-10 if IIRC, so again he dropped quite a bit and we grabbed him so I wouldn't say he's risky.

Burke - National Player of the Year.. steady PG, good handle, low TO, great 3pt %.

Gobert - Risky pick yes, but remember we bought that pick, it was affordable and so late in the 1st that it was an 'safe' risk to take (we already had out 'safe' pick with Burke in that draft)

Hood - he was considered a lotto pick by some, so it was a safe pick for what he brings and where he's picked (late 1st)

I think overall, the Jazz had been 'cautious' about who they pick. Their 'risky' picks have come when that player drop well below their expected spots. We didn't Greek Freak or Caboclo with our own pick. I would be surprised if we ended up with either Oubre or Looney or even Turner (given his health uncertainties)

Oubre is my least fave there..

Mine too. I'm just pointing out that IF the Jazz end up at 11 and IF they don't trade up and IF all the teams in front of them pick one of those 11 guys. . . then the WORST the Jazz can end up with is Oubre or Kaminsky.

Since I don't think that Top 4 is a legitimate option, I'm all in on the idea of trading up and adding a SF sized wing (Hezonja or Johnson) or a backup big (WCS or Porzingiz) in that 7/8 range. Somebody good will be there. Go up and get them. Then let this roster cook. Hood, Exum and Gobert are already showing signs of being special. I'm interested in seeing who takes the big jumps next year.

it's sad I wouldn't complain about a draft of frank the tank but since kkk has been pimping him I don't want anything to do with him.

LOL .. I haven't been 'pimping' him, I'm being realistic. For where we're picking, it's either him or the Oubre, Looney, Turner trio.

I'm a realist, not a dreamer.

with the ability to bring either tomic or pleiss over I prefer a stretch 4.

turner is interesting has a decent mid range game and a good 3 pointer. defense seems to fit what the jazz are building but that running. I looks like he is running in flippers.

looney has a lot of potential as a stretch 4 who could play some 3. he has a lot of potential but I am concerned with his motor. he just seems to coast way to much.

portis is interesting but I can seems to get very excited about him.

lyles I like a lot. he is just so smooth. great mid range game but jump shoot is very good and with practice will stretch it out to the 3 pt line. decent defender and could play some 3 in a big line up. he is my pick but we could trade down and get him.

McCullough might be the streak of the draft. trade down or buy another pick take him late first. let develope and heal behind booker for a year.not really a win now draft pick but a win a couple years down the road.

I don't want Kaminsky. I think he's too slow for how the Jazz ultimately want to play. If he were on the Warriors, I don't think he'd get playing time. I'll be disappointed if we pick (and keep) Kaminsky, and I honestly doubt the Jazz will do that. They're looking for a higher echelon of talent.

I know it's not terribly popular, but I'm okay with Myles Turner. I like him this year much the way I liked Hassan Whiteside a few years ago. He'll need time to develop, and he's a bit awkward physically, but he can be an impact player both offensively and defensively.

I like Stanley Johnson as a modern Draymond Green/Paul Millsap-style mobile PF, if he can make that jump, but that's a bit of a risk. Derrick Williams failed at it, though Johnson has better defense, motor and quickness overall.

If the Jazz keep their pick and stay at #10 (knock on wood), I think it's going to come down to Johnson vs. Turner vs. Looney, with an honorable mention going to Grant, Booker, Payne, Lyles and Portis.

I also think it would be awesome if Harrell somehow ended up on the Jazz....just to leave teams in despair at having to deal with our defense.
