Following potential 2015 draftees

It's funny how a lot of people here are excited by every prospect in the top 15. I've heard a lot of people name off like 5 or 6 dudes they'd be happy with.

That's not how it's going to work out. Only a handful of players in this entire draft will be any good. If you look at any draft 6+ years old it's hard to find that many good players in any draft. Younger drafts appear to have more good players, but only because history hasn't been written yet.

This is something what this draft will look like in 6+ years

1st pick - Allstar, maybe all NBA
2nd pick - Bust
3rd pick - Allstar
4th pick - decent player
5th pick - Borderline Allstar
6th pick - Bust
7th pick - Bust
8th pick - Bust
9th pick - borderline Allstar
10th pick - Bust
11th pick - Bust
12th pick - decent player
13th pick - Bust
14th pick - Good player
15th pick - Bust

You get the picture... With maybe 3 or 4 decent players left and an Allstar maybe.

So every time I hear, I'll be happy with Oubre, Looney, Turner, Kaminsky, Booker, Portis, or Johnson, I think eh, probably one or 2 good players out of all those. If that.

All I'm saying is, you can't be excited about getting just anyone in our range.

No one is saying that they think that all those guys will be good, just that it's hard to decipher who in particular is actually going to pan out.

These trades won't happen until draft night so not sure you can climb the latter like that.

Also, Hornets will get better offers than that... Boston has been said to want to move there. I'd be willing to do 12 plus the OKC pick or our pick next year top 5 protected to get to 9 if Johnson, Hezonja, or Porz are there (WCS may fall and I don't think I'd move up for him). I think one of Porz, Hezonja, or WCS slips a bit on draft night just the way the teams are lined up. I think Detroit will take Johnson if Mario and Winslow are off the board.

Rumor has it that 8 is available... SVG mentioned he needs a backup center and a SF... wonder what we could cobble together.

Jazz would have to overpay for 9 in advance and see if the second leg materializes once the draft begins.

12 + Hood might get the Jazz to 8, but that's a tough decision if you like Hood.

Would be better to try for 9.

If Hezonja is there, would the Jazz pull the trigger though? However, Hood already proven himself that he is a good player. Hezonja, I'm not sure.

Which is why 12 plus salary and a 2nd won't get it done. I don't think Charlotte can clear much space now that Jefferson has opted in... maybe if Hendo opted out, but that decision won't come until after the draft.

I think if Porz is there I'd overpay to get him.

I wouldn't trade Hood unless we knew the foot thing was a lingering issue. Hood showed a lot when he could actually stay on the floor. He can get that pull up 20 footer seemingly whenever he wants... its not a great shot, but with 5 seconds left on the clock its great to have guys who can go get shots. Mario has some buzz but there are a couple red flags that scare me a bit.

This is why u trade down to 16 pick up a 2017 pick. Now u have three picks in 17 and the Boston pick could be pretty good. Now the Jazz have fire power with tons of assets to do some deals

I'd trade #12 + Hood for Mudiay I think. Call me crazy, but he was the #3 prospect coming out of hs. Larry Brown said he was the best point guard he's ever seen at that age.

Can you imagine the line-up possibilites.

Mudiay
Exum
Hayward

For me, if Porzingis is slipping and is there at 8 I'd trade 12 and Hood. You know what they say, go big or go home. Roll the dice like the Jazz did with Exum.

But the house wins too often when you roll the dice...

I don't think we move Hood.
