You never know. I believe we're 6th in the lottery standing right now. And we've got the assets to make a trade.

Don't we have to wait until next summer (to see what kanter gets offered by other suitors) before we know how prohibitive the cost will be?

Does Favors really like it, or is it just a comfort thing? Being traded rocked his world... To me, his love for Utah is just a telling sign of his lingering fragility a ddislike of stepping outside his comfort zone. He has a good thing here and should like it. But the reasons why he likes it aren't purely altruistic. The NBA is a business. The Jazz have owed him... A paycheck and time on the floor to develop, both of which he got. GM's aren't father figures, and they shouldn't be. Their sole concern should be building a championship team, and that's done by buying low, selling high, envisioning fit, and avoiding redundancies. Favors and Gobert are a redundancy. The money needed to keep both of them long term would be better served at another position of need.


We could probably get Dragic, TH Warren, Green, and a draft pick fora package of Favors and Trey. Phoenix knows they need rim protection if they're ever going to crack the playoffs.

I've read reports that out of their three PG's, the Suns value Dragic the highest. Would you advocate trading Favors for Thomas or Bledsoe?

Were Malone and Eaton (or Ostertag) redundant? Not saying Favors or even your boy Kanter are on the level of Malone (clearly that will NEVER be the case), but Favors is not redundant. He's a PF who can also play some 5. Kanter is a hybrid 4/5.

Why does anyone need to be traded? Jazz need a 3-man rotation. Just look at the Memphis game: all three got 30 mins or more and the Grizzlies couldn't match the Jazz' toughness inside. Thirty-two rebounds combined for our 3 bigs (49 for the team) vs. 34 for the entire Grizzlies. Sure Gasol - who is one of the best centers in the league - still got 24/12. But he needed 22 shots to do it and was clearly bothered by our 3-headed monster. Favors has developed a pretty good midrange game and there's no reason to believe he won't keep improving every year. Kanter is developing range out to the 3.

I know the fad is to have a "stretch-4." But why? Why can't we just punish teams inside and have three shooters on the perimeter? With Burks and Hayward >37%, all we need is a PG who can shoot 3's. I hate to place blame on one person, but the real difference on offense between the Jazz and opponents is 3PT% (Utah at 33% and opponents at 38%). And the player who has taken the most 3's is also the one who is the worst at it (<31%).

Wes is a really nice player but he shouldn't get durant, lebron type money. There would have to be a limit to what you would pay him

Everyone is tradeable...that said, I'd ask for the moon for Favors. I think you could get it too. Would a team trade you Towns for Favors? Would Jazzfanz be for or against this?

I think we can keep all three in the short term... long term it will likely be a bit cost prohibitive. I just feel like individually they are all pretty good, but I don't think they compliment each other well. I think Towns, Porzingis, and Myles Turner would fit well with either Favors or Gobert.

Umm, no, we don't.
No one is going to trade a top-2 pick, just as Parker and Wiggins were untouchable last year. WE don't even have an ALL-STAR on the team. PERHAPS if I were Hinkie, with plenty of cap space and Noel and Embiid already drafted, I MIGHT consider giving Utah the #1 pick for the #6 and Hayward. Tough decision, though. I'm giving up a potential franchise player, who I can have on a rookie salary for 4 years and then match any offer, for a fringe all-star who is going to opt out in 3 years and become an UFA, and a possible starter, but probably not all-star at #6.

You know what...I just thought this through and I'm going to have to turn you down, Dennis. We're not going to contend for a number of years and by then Gordon (or Favors) will be an UFA. I'd much rather have a potential franchise player for 8 years to build around.

With the cap going up, I'd max him. When the cap goes up, 14 million per will be really, really nice role player money, which he is. I'd max Wes before Kanter. 47% FG, 38% 3pt, defensive player.

Max for Wes is higher than 14 M I believe... That is also too much for him.
