Following potential 2015 draftees

Umm, no, we don't.
No one is going to trade a top-2 pick, just as Parker and Wiggins were untouchable last year. WE don't even have an ALL-STAR on the team. PERHAPS if I were Hinkie, with plenty of cap space and Noel and Embiid already drafted, I MIGHT consider giving Utah the #1 pick for the #6 and Hayward. Tough decision, though. I'm giving up a potential franchise player, who I can have on a rookie salary for 4 years and then match any offer, for a fringe all-star who is going to opt out in 3 years and become an UFA, and a possible starter, but probably not all-star at #6.

You know what...I just thought this through and I'm going to have to turn you down, Dennis. We're not going to contend for a number of years and by then Gordon (or Favors) will be an UFA. I'd much rather have a potential franchise player for 8 years to build around.

It depends on what team get the pick. I think the Lakers, Knicks, and maybe the Wolves would trade a top 3 pick for Favs. The Lakers and Knicks are perpetually in win now mode and both think they will have cap space to sign someone good. Minnesota has a GM/Coach which can lead them to make short term moves. Last year's draft is a bad comparison... I don't think any of the top 3 guys are seen as Wiggins, Parker, or Embiid (healthy) like prospects

O

With the cap going up, I'd max him. When the cap goes up, 14 million per will be really, really nice role player money, which he is. I'd max Wes before Kanter. 47% FG, 38% 3pt, defensive player.
It's a choice between the two, then. I think you'd have to renounce the rights to Enes and Booker in order to free up cap room for Wes. I guess if the Jazz were to draft Porzingis or another PF/C they could go that route. And they could then re-sign Booker or another big for the MLE.

As much as I would love to have Wes, I just think the Gobert/Kanter/Favors rotation has too much value. Any one of those players could likely fetch a good haul of players/picks in a couple of years. I also believe Hood is going to be a very good 3PT shooter. I like the Hayward, Burks, Hood rotation. And one of those groups will be strengthened by a draft pick. Once the draft pick is ready to play 30 mins. then possibly trade a player. What we need most, IMO, is a PG who can shoot and defend better than Trey.

Since someone asked why a stretch 4 has so much value:
The magic is he manipulates the geometry of the floor.
Simply spoken, if another big is outside at the 3 point line guarding your stretch guy, it means more space inside for everyone else. And by this he has the biggest effect on the TEAM's offense of every possible toolbox available in the game of basketball, as it helps get your perimeter guys going, creates wider lanes for everyone.
Also it allowes way more creative setplays and distration/deception as you have a harder time switching on that guy.

Talking specifics, there are 2 main areas on the floor where you want your stretch big to be when your team selects an opening inside.
a) In the weak side corner. Having him there gives your guard a low accuracy skip pass option. Really easy pass and every rotation by the big towards the basket will be punished by the 2nd most dangerous shot in the game.
b) Involved in a screen and roll of any kind(Ball handler, screener, just setting a secondary screen) which pressures the defense to have marvelous communication and basketball IQ and every time is a huge stress test.

Porzingis is one of the most interesting looking stretch-big prospects in a while. I like Favors, but would also agree he's probably our best trade asset. I'm not advocating that we trade him, but if we did, I bet we could get the 4th or 5th pick in this year's draft. Worth it? Maybe.

I like our current 3-big rotation, but I also think that to get to the next level the Jazz need a definitive #1 scoring option in the frontcourt. Kanter or Gobert may or may not become that, but I think it's fairly safe to predict that Favors won't become that offensively skilled. The Jazz should play out the year and keep an open mind.

If the Jazz came out of this draft with both Porzingis and Hezonja, even if it cost us Favors, we'd have 5 young All Star-caliber prospects all developing together. This is what separates good teams from real contenders.

I am watching Arizona vs UNLV... again and again I can't help but think that Johnson is extremely limited offensively. He can't create ANYTHING in O, no shake, no crossover, no horizontal explosiveness... all his assists and points are off of transition or spot up opportunities.

Also, the announcers pointed out that there are questions about his practice habits and attitude. His coach said that "the key to Johnson is to put him in competitive situations and 5-on-5 situations, where he'd give u 100%".

I don't think Johnson is what we need, at least not with our lottery pick this year. Again, there are journeymen players like Demarre Carroll and James Johnson who can do a lot of what Johnson does. For now, we also have Hayward and Hood playing that position.

I think Winslow has more potential, fwiw.

I agree about Winslow. if he gets a consistent 3 pt shot he will be an allstar in the league.

I still want hezonja out of the 3 but I am now watching prospects in the 9-13 range.

Now that we're back on our winning way... I think it's time to start thinking about this year's Kawhi or Adetokoumpo.

Any ideas????

Johnson just blew the game for Arizona. Stole the ball losing by 1 with 40 to go and missed the easy layup in transition and then turned the ball over with 5 seconds to go, losing by 2.
Finished the game with 13pts(3/11 shooting, 6/11 FT), 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 7 TOs.

Again - played great defense and rebounded great, but made some key mistakes and was pretty mediocre offensively.

Chris Wood just had his coming out party.

Looked pretty good, indeed.
