What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

At some point in their career, they have either hit 40% or gotten damn close.

I hit 40% in my basketball career too. That was the most freethrow practice I ever did.

Hezonja's shot is so sweet! He's got 22 points for FC Barcelona against Real Madrid in the 4th quarter... Scored 3s in 3 possessions in a row...

Finished the game with 22pts(8/14 FG, 5/9 3P FG, 1/2 FT), 1rb, 1ast, 2 to... was pretty much the only Barcelona player who played well... they lost by 24

What's he like defensively?

So Chad Ford thinks:

* The Jazz would take Okafor #1
* The Jazz would take Russell #2 with Okafor off the board
* The Jazz would take Mudiay #3 with Okafor and Russel off the board
* The Jazz would take Kevon Looney at #6 with Hezonja, Oubre and Johnson still on the board
* The Jazz would take Oubre at #7 with Hezonja and Johnson still on the board

So...Ford currently sees Okafor, Russell, Looney and Oubre as potential outcomes based on the Jazz's current positioning.

Ten trials resulted in Looney (6), Oubre (2), Russell (1) and Mudiay (1).

And Utah's Big Board would look like:

Okafor
Russell
Mudiay
Towns?
Porzingis?
Looney
Oubre

A few other things---

* Chad Ford consistently puts Looney in the top 6.
* Ford thinks Orlando really likes Porzingis
* Ford consistently puts Johnson out of the top 7

Snippet from today's ESPN article on the tank race.

Utah Jazz
Chances of winning the lottery: 4.3 percent

The Jazz have a wealth of young talent right now. Dante Exum, while young, looks like he could be a potential superstar. Rudy Gobert is having a breakout sophomore campaign. Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward have immense talent as well. And Enes Kanter, Trey Burke and Alec Burks also have potential.

The Jazz don't really need more young talent, but if Okafor comes calling, they'll grab him, avoid having to pay Kanter a huge deal this summer in restricted free agency and put the best young front line in the NBA out there every night. Between Gobert and Favors' defense and Okafor's offensive skills (think a better version of Al Jefferson, Jazz fans), the Jazz will be set for the next decade. We'll also be watching Russell closely here. His ability to play two positions and shoot the basketball is very attractive. The Jazz, I'm told, like him a lot.

What's he like defensively?

He's long and quick, has really nice frame. On-ball he can smother offensive players with his length and size when he's locked in, he seems to have long arms. He bites on fakes too much. Has problem going through screens... Off the ball, he doesn't really do much... doesn't try to deny the ball to his man, again - when he's focused, his rotations and switches look good, but there's still room for improvement. He seems to have a brain-freeze once in a while in defense... sometimes loses concentration or desire to finish off the defensive play... Like... he would get stuck on a screen and would give up on the play instead of trying to recover...
