But you don't just have the LeBrons and Dwights of the world coming out early, you have guys who aren't ready or simply aren't good, yet teams spend early picks on them because they can't pass on the potential next Kobe or the next Dwight. There's already overwhelming evidence that the 1-and-done rule is nonsense. You may have heard of; LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett..
Moses Malone was drafted out of HS to the Utah Stars, I think that worked out okay for him..
Not every year, but sometimes there are SUREFIRE talents..
players whos talent belies their age... people act like those players don't exist, but clearly they do..
DeAndre Ayton would be one of the top picks in the draft this year.. EASILY he'd be the top bigman on ALL boards..
Those are the true players who suffer from the rule, the true cream of the crop.. To me it's just not what sports is about, that rule is agreed upon by the players association because they know if players such as Dennis Smith were allowed in the draft pool last year, and players like Colin Sexton were allowed in the draft this year,it'd change the landscape of the FA market and ultimately more vets would get pushed out of the league quicker..
My opinion is selfish. I want to have a chance to see them at the higher level against and with real coaching, size, maturity and athleticism before my team has top use a pick on a guy who really can't play.
