I should sue! They are only doing lottery picks, though. And their voting method isn't as sophisticated as mine is.

Actually, though, I'm not really sure if I'm going to do my annual compilation this year, due to time restrictions and the Jazz not having any particularly high picks.

I'm in favor of keeping Hill, but only at the right price. But you've got to give serious consideration to him because the Jazz can exceed the salary cap to sign him. And if they get him for a good price ($17-18 million, in my opinion), then he's an asset.

Jazz are able to get rid of Alec Burks/Derrick Favors, who have no future on the Utah Jazz. Jazz also get Lin as a cheap starter to replace Hill. Hopefully Exum steps up and he can become future starter. Dealing Lin would be easy next year if that were the case. Jazz add Crabbe, who is way overpaid, but is a proven high level consistent shooter. The Jazz/Blazers also swap the 15th and 24th pick.

Portland is able to get out of Allen Crabbe's contract. This deal leaves them with enough money to sign Nurkic next year.

Pistons are able to get out of Reggie Jackson's contract. The Blazer's also give them their 20th pick.

Brooklyn gets players who aren't terrible.


Is this a terrible trade for the Jazz?

Definitely not a fan of Crabbe's contract and a little wary of his impact on our locker room. Jeremy Lin is worth consideration though if he comes cheap enough.

Can the Jazz sign Hill for 5 years? If so I wonder if the FO will consider offering Hill and extra year for less $$/yr?? Around the $17Mil mark as mentioned over 5 years.

The thing is we might have to deal with someone giving Hood a 20+ million dollar contract if he has a good year. Crabbe is at least a decent backup option. He would have more trade value next year, I would think, since he would have a year less on his deal.
 
Whomever the Jazz take back in a trade needs to either be a player the Jazz likes or needs to be a player the Jazz can move in a year.

The Blazers could offer some simple deals like:
-- Ed Davis for Diaw and pick swap (shorter deal)
-- Mo Harkless for Diaw and pick swap (longer deal)
-- Aminu for Diaw and pick swap (longer deal)

The Blazers are in really bad shape financially. They're in the luxury tax with their current payroll and no rookies or extensions.

I'm not sure it's worth moving up to 15 though. I guess it depends who is still on the board.
 
Also, if you think the Jazz are going to lose Hood in a year, they could look at trading him now. Charlotte might give #11 for him in one scenario or another. They want to win now and aren't keen on drafting another white stretch-5.

You could move Hood for Zach Collins and move Favors at the deadline for a guard if Exum and Burks aren't cutting it.

Remember historically there is little difference between what a #14 and #25 pick ends up to be. Probably not worth taking on an albatross. Have to resist "draft fever" this time of year.
