The only questionable reasoning in this exchange is you extrapolating the argument "jump shots have nothing to do with field goal percentage" from the statement "FG% =/= jump shot." Of course jump shooting is related to field goal percentage - as is shot selection. Rudy Gobert has an amazing FG%; tell me about his consistent jump shot...
 
Westbrook, Giannis, Wall...these guys all had no jump shot when drafted. None.

That's one of the easier areas for Duval to improve his game.

I'm as big a Doncic apologist as anybody, but that is crazy talk. He's not as big and not nearly the athlete.

Let me spell out why I was confused.
CD: He'd be good and picked high if he had a reliable shot.
Me: Wait, how do you know? Did you watch him in high school? He's only played one game and had a good game shooting wise.
Saint Cy: FG% =/= jump shot
Me: Are you implying that a reliable jump shot has nothing to do with fg%?

Can you at least translate what Saint Cy was saying or implying in his comment in context to the conversation cause it read as gobbledygook to me.
 
Translation: a guy can have a high FG% if he gets to the rim and picks his spots, even though his jump shot is unreliable. However, the Jazz would not be advised to bring in a PG who doesn't have a reliable jumpshot, as this won't help the team improve. See Rubio, Ricky.
 
If the only information you have on a player is his FG%, then you have 0 way of knowing anything about their jump shot.

There is no arguing this.
