Following Potential 2018 Draftees

I wanted Hart... I think they are different doe. I think late 20s early 30s if you get a guy that is going to almost no doubt going to be a rotation guy then you do it. I didn't see a way he wasn't at least a rotation guy.

Can't make decisions based on sunk costs. I would like Donte, but I'm not sure he's in my top 21... I'd really like to get another pick in the top 30-40 though. Quite a few guys that provide value late... Okogie, Donte, Frazier, Alkins, Robinson... could see any of them being a draft steal... would love to get one more bite at the apple.
They are different in that Josh Hart is better in every way and bigger.

I think it's funny that all these guys are rising to the top 20 and now none of them will be available. Which guys are falling? Jontay Porter slides out of first round is my guess. I also thin Zhaire could slip because of measurements (from 12ish to 18ish?). Maybe Musa too... just cuz he's not around.

I don't think the top 10 has really changed much -- Ayton, Doncic, Bamba, Bagley, JJJ, Porter, Carter, Young, Bridges, Sexton.

I don't think the next 5 have really changed -- Walker, SGA, Bridges, Williams, Knox. Maybe Zhaire Smith gets into that group and Robert Williams slips.

The draft flattens out in general after 15, so it's not surprising if there is some shuffling. In that range, Zhaire Smith and KBD affirmed their status near the top of this group. But there's a group of 10 - 15 guys who could go in nearly any order, including: Musa, Simons, Brown, Porter, M. Robinson, J. Robinson, Khyri Thomas, ...etc. Maybe Donte sneaks into that group. Maybe Okogie and Okbobo go in that group. Maybe a guard like Aaron Holliday or De'Anthony Melton goes in that group. I don't think too much has changed.

Maybe Huerter gets into the end of the first round. Maybe someone takes Grayson Allen at the end of the first. That's not a major change though.

Ok... I think Donte is a better outside shooter, creator, and passer. I think he has more playmaking ability. I think Hart is bigger and a better defender, rebounder, but is a 3 and D guy. I don't think he has much off the dribble.

Too each their own... I wanted Hart, but I remember you touted TB as the next Lemarcus Aldridge. Not sure why passing on Hart means we wouldn't pick Donte this year... they are different players.

I think Miles or Sexton could slip outside the top 10. I think Williams could slide into the late teens... same with Smith. KBD seems to be working his way into the top 15-16... based on last few weeks he was consistently mid 20s. I just think not all these guys can be helping their stock and am kind of laughing at the fact that reporters are saying "this guy may not be there"... well yeah, but one of them has to.

Yeah, no.

Hart was the much better shooter through college.

Donte's free throw rate was pretty garbage for his last season. The only form of shot creation he has is the pull-up 3pt shot. Hart was much more varied in his attacking and shot creation. He could score at the rim, mid-range, from 3, or draw fouls.

The only thing you can really argue he has on Hart is passing, and it's by the thinnest of margins.

FTA are pretty similar... if Donte has the passing edge by the slimmest of margins then Hart has the FTA edge by a slimmer margin.

Shooting pull up threes or anything off the dribble is friggin deadly and will open up more for Donte in NBA space.

I like both players a lot... I'd take either of them. They are different and we wouldn't even compare the two if they weren't from the same school. What we did last year should not factor into what we do this year, and for the record... I though we should have just took Hart last year.

Zhaire Smith's lack of height is a disappointment. I was hoping he'd measure out something close to Andre Iguodala and potentially be able to have that kind of defensive impact. Sexton measured out a bit small, and yeah, he could drop to make way for Lonnie Walker possibly. Trae Young is small and limited defensively, but I don't think that's really new information. Kevin Knox and Troy Brown measured well, but that was pretty much expected.

Guys who helped themselves the most in Chicago seem to be Bamba, Bates-Diop, Donte, Okogie, and Huerter. Maybe Simons turned some heads with his athleticism, since he was an unknown. I just don't think it shakes up the draft much in the bigger picture.

Free throw rate is not similar at all.
Josh Hart was a career 38% ftr at Villanova.

Donte was 29% and his last season was his worst at 27%

Donte is an undersized JR Smith type. He isnt a shot creator. He will struggle to create that space for his pull-up 3 in the NBA and that will take away most all of his shot creation.

I am surprised no one is talking about Khyri thomas. Similar measurements to Mitchell. good 3 point shooter and a great defender.
