Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Spellman is a bull in a china shop, but he could be forceful in the paint and the jumper works well enough. Don't think he's much of a rim protector though.
Not much of a rim protector, not someone who can guard on the perimeter against modern 4's, is old for his class, didnt draw fouls at the college level despite size, is fat, how much will his 3pt shot translate. At 52, sure, it would be a fine pick, but I dont think he is a NBA player.

He had 1.5 blocks a game - played decent defense during the tournament. The majority of stretch-4s are below average defenders - I think Spellman can be somewhat decent if he works at it - he's athletic for his size. That's the question for me though - work-ethic.
Anyone above 6'8 in college basketball can average 1.5 blocks game. Tyler Lydon did it twice.

I like spellman but he came into the combine fat and that turned me off as a first rounder.

Like cy said in the second round he is worth the gamble that he will work his butt off. (Literally)

He has some talent and could be good but he would have to live in the gym

Mo Wagner! Mo Wagner!! Mo Wager!!! Size, energy, vocal leader, post moves, 3-pt range, runs floor. He would be perfect 4/5 in Jazz system. Corner 3, Top of key 3, PnR, PnP. Energetic defender. Needs to add strength but that is normal.

A true competitor would forgo entering the most competitive league in favor of going to college? Right....

If he goes back, it's probably because he doesnt feel ready and/or he enjoys being a collegiate athlete.

Are you this naive when it comes to the experiences these players take, what with coach advise and illegal behind the scenes advice and all?

Stay 1 year, make 5 mil. Stay 2 years and maybe a 20+ guaranteed payday.

You aren't stupid enough to not think of the gambles these kids take.

But, Gobert did, to your credit, a bawse is a boss.

The first overall pick isn't even 20 million guaranteed.

The sooner you get in the nba the sooner you get to your 2nd contract.

I think the thing for Huerter is that he's not a 1st rd lock. There are so many talented wings that are going to be available in the second half of round 1. Some are going to drop into the 2nd rd. If he drops into the 2nd rd this year when he could be a lottery pick next year, he's leaving a lot of money and a guaranteed place in the NBA on the table. It's a gamble to stay in, and it's a tough choice. I understand why he would want to fly back home and discuss it with his family.

PF. Maybe even some C against small ball lineups. He has a 7'3 1/4 wingspan.

KBD cant play C. Keevon Looney is much better rebounder, and has spent a ton of time at the 5 in HS.... he wouldnt be projected in the 20's if teams thought he could play all the frontcourt positions.

A player like Thaddeus Young is better suited for that role, young was pretty much exclusively a C before he got to Georgia Tech. He could be a free agent too, has a termination option.
