Following Potential 2020 draftees

Jalen Smith is being seriously undervalued in this class imo. Primarily just because of the skinny legs too lol. I've seen the idea posed that he can't guard centers because they'll abuse him... he defended more physical centers in the Big Ten than he'll find in the NBA LMAO. Garza, Teske, Wesson, Tillman, Oturu, etc didn't destroy him. How many NBA centers these days actually post up often? Like Jokic and Embiid are the only two. They'll probably score on Smith... they score on pretty much everyone. Who else though? I don't think Smith is going to be destroyed by the likes of Brook Lopez, some 6'5 guy on Houston, Montrezl Harrell, etc.

It's silliness. Guy can shoot threes, protect the rim, rebound, he's even flashed enticing ability to attack closeouts off the bounce and is a decent cutter. He has a skill set that isn't easy to find.

Smith's numbers and role compare well to Myles Turner. The question is whether he can defend out on the floor well enough to play significant minutes at the 4. Guys people compare him to--including Turner, Thomas Bryant, even Ibaka--have all settled in as 5s. If Smith can't play meaningful minutes next to Rudy, then his value to the Jazz drops. But I could see another team take him as early as 17 or 18.

He's smaller than Turner and Bryant, which may translate into being more agile on the perimeter. His game is similar though, not much playmaking at all with 1 assist a game.

If Royce is traded, then I would look for Jarell Brantley as an option at the 4. He needs increase his defensive presence if possible. But if not, then play it by committee - Juwan Morgan, Brantley, Bojan, Tony Bradley, a free agent and a draft pick. Something has to work out.

Pokusevski's shooting is real nice, but I think you throw a body on him (even a tiny guard) and you take away the shooting and the passing he does is in space. He plays very flat, even on defense. I think that Paul Reed looks the best from afar.

Why would we ever trade Royce. He is signed on a good value deal, is extremely valuable as a role player, is good friends with our young budding superstar... We'd have to get something really damned good for that type of move. Royce can play 2-4 so if Brantley is good then fantastic.

He's tradable and is wanted. It would hurt, but it is a risk and sometimes you need to take a risk to get something greater. But yeah it could blowup and backfire on the team.

Royce is our most tradable asset outside of Rudy, Donovan and Bogey. He's also playing out of position much of the time and is extremely low usage on offense, which might make him more replaceable. But yeah, it would have to be the right deal.

A team that doesn't want to wait on a rookie might accept #24 + Royce to move down in this draft. If I were the Bucks, I would trade Indiana's pick (#17 or #18) for Royce and #24. I'd take minutes from Wes Matthews, Sterling Brown and Irsan Illyasova to play Royce, and I'd use the #24 pick to draft a backup PG like Tre Jones or Nico Mannion. Or maybe I'd take Jalen Smith.

Would the Jazz do it? Maybe, maybe not. They'd have to love someone who is still on the board.

Xavier Tillman is someone who hasn't really been talked about here but assuming he stays in the draft then he's someone we should talk about in regards to the Jazz. He'd probably be the most unsexy pick imaginable but the guy can play basketball. He's probably the best screener in the class. Maybe the best passing big in the class. REALLY good defender. He had a Gobert-like impact on winning for Michigan State.
Cuz he's going back to school (last I heard, sorry if there has been some update)

Royce plays out of position? Since when lmao.

Poku has shown he can shoot over close-outs from 6'7" and 6'8" forwards. He has a pretty quick release and shows range out to 27 or 28 feet.

I agree that Paul Reed would be great for the Jazz, if he can become even an average shooter. His defensive versatility could be game-changing.

I would argue that Oni providing 80% of Royces defense wouldn't be enough for a team that is trying to contend. Royce also shoots a high percentage from three so despite low volume he is someone that defense has to stay on. Not sure Oni would be.

I don't know why we would be desperate to move up for Poku/Bey anyway. I LOVE Poku. Its unlikely, but if he falls to the Jazz they should take him imo. But he's a project that doesn't fit the timeline of the core. It makes no sense to surrender a key piece to go get him when we're trying to win it all. Bey could very well be there when we pick. It wouldn't shock me at all. Not sure why we would trade a key piece to move up for him. I don't really view him as a ceiling raiser.

There is some consensus that Saddiq Bey could be similar to Kris Middleton, a legit 3D wing with size and some offensive versatility.
