I just don't know if they'd be able to pull it off. They'd need to find a team that's tired of drafting young players--maybe a team like Phoenix.

Vassell would be so nice on this team. He's so good on defense. Always in the right spot. I love watching him play.
 
Guys... if y'all are looking for a second round target you should check out some Nevada games. This kid Jalen Harris can play.

I also still like Chris Smith and Nate Hinton. There's some interesting wings who will probably go in the second.
 
An argument could be made that Jalen Smith will be as effective a player in the NBA as Myles Turner. He's not as long and imposing defensively, but he moves a bit better and has better offensive stats. His advanced stats are also right there with Paul Reed. He needs to add strength and flexibility in his lower body, and I think his defense would improve as a result. He's only 20 though, so you'd expect he should be able to do it with a year or two of NBA conditioning.

He's more of a face-up guy than a post-up guy, and could end up being better in the NBA than in college. He's got the jumper and some touch on floaters. He also runs the floor really well. He's not a good passer, but could learn with some reps in Quin's system. Both Smith and Paul Reed are 6'9" - 6'10" with a 7'1.5" wingspan, and they should end up around 230 lbs. Reed is the more versatile defender, and Smith is the more natural shooter.

Nate Hinton plays incredibly hard. He plays with a real edge on defense.

He's a lottery prospect on my board. I buy his three point shot. His defense is far from perfect and still needs work but he is capable of protecting the rim and being a drop big in a drop big scheme (like the one the Jazz run). A center who is capable of shooting threes (he has flashed the capability of attacking closeouts too) and defending the rim is very valuable.

If he was available and the Jazz took him I'd be happy with it. And I'm sure it's something that they would consider because having a stretch 5 is an element that they have wanted on the roster. That's why they tried Jeff Green at 5.

I don't know if they would pull the trigger on it though. Especially since it seems like they love Bradley. Having three 5's who are best as drop bigs on defense is not ideal. I don't think you want Smith at 4 defending in space very much. I don't think that is playing him to his strengths.

I think he has good touch. The mechanics still need work. He looks uncomfortable shooting a pullup. Has bad misses from time to time. I don't think it's unfixable tho.

Do you like Dotson, Cy? I do. And I think he's one of the better fits for the Jazz that is realistically in their range. He's the best halfcourt penetrator in the draft, the Jazz drive more than any other team in the NBA. He throws accurate lobs, none of our guards can throw Rudy that pass. He's a strong perimeter defender and generates steals, our guards aren't and don't. I think he could step into the Mudiay spot fairly quickly.

I don't love him, but I wouldn't be mad at the pick. I can see him becoming a starter.



Obv he was on fire this game, bit his shot looks fine to me. Is it the prettiest? No, but it isn't broken at all like a Mudiay.
