Following Potential 2025 Draftees

This was already discussed above. KD was/is a very good defender and rim protector, not to mention ballhandler.

Flagg has only proved he can play against future plumbers, used car salesmen and B-level overseas pros.
Beasley defended in college...

He was better than Durant in basically every advanced stat outside of 3pt volume and being slightly taller.

I know it's hard to separate the prospect from the pro because we know what their careers became. I think Flagg is a better prospect than Durant. He's going to have a Kawhi career without the injuries.

Your opinions aren't really valid because you think VJ better than Cooper.
Right now Flagg is the "better player" overall. The college game suits him. (Although he still has to work too hard to score against guys who will never sniff the league.)

I just happen to think that VJ has a much higher NBA ceiling. I see him blossoming in that cut-throat environment, whereas Flagg will struggle. He's too slow and too bad a shooter to make it as an NBA 3. He's not 6'10'', he's 6'8''.

I think I would have Zion above Flagg and Durant as a prospect though. If his health/weight wasn't an issue I think he'd be in discussion for the best player and probably the hardest to guard player in the NBA.

I get why people arent as high on Flagg as a generational player because no one aspect of his profile is the best of all time, but he's generationally well-rounded at an extremely young age that hasnt been seen since Lebron.

Beasley was an amazing prospect on court. If you factor in other issues that should have been really apparent in any kind of evaluation… well… on paper I can see someone saying he is as good a prospect as KD was or somewhere in that class. His career was not derailed by lack of talent.

Also, sidenote, I do think I would give up a decent amount for Zion. I think betting on his health/work ethic is probably a higher % bet than just hoping you get lucky in the lottery/draft a random star outside the top 5 with a Wolves/Cavs pick.

Like if you can make the headliner Keyonte, combine him with salary filler, and 2-3 picks, that might be worth the risk.

Weird comparison since LeBron had GOAT level BBIQ and GOAT level athleticism. Flagg isn't even a basic jack-of-all-trades since he can't shoot at all.

Can we stop mentioning this kid with all kinds of basketball legends? He's done nothing to deserve it.

Keyonte/Collins works straight up as salary.

I would tell them have your pick of prospects/draft capital (depending on who they choose would determine the # of assets), but Walker/Jazz 2025 pick/Sexton are off limits.

OK? The only comparison I made to Lebron was how well rounded he was as a prospect at a young age and I clearly said no single aspect of his profile is generational onto itself. That is true. Name a more well-rounded prospect from Lebron to now....

And IDK how much you want to live/die on that "he cant shoot" hill because it's going to look stupid by the end of the season. He can clearly shoot the ball.

Flagg, in 5 ACC games, is shooting 55% from the field, 50% from 3, and 84% from the FT line.

Trust me, the "cant' shoot" isnt something you want to stick with.

If you can keep a core of Sexton/Lauri/Zion/Walker that's a fun contender if Zion stays healthy. Keep the tank alive this year and hope you land Flagg or Harper and you are going into 2025 as a potential contender.
I would be down with this plan you are suggesting with these 3 posts.

It's risky but so is tanking. Both wind require lots of luck.

Plus we still get to tank for Flagg this year. Just keep Zion out until next season to make sure he gets all the way healthy.

He is a beast when he gets on the court.
