Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I hated the MPJ comp initially. Ace's offense started out 99% mid range iso's and nothing off the ball. MPJ is an exclusively off the ball player. As the season went on Ace started shooting more 3's and making more of them (and his FT's) so it makes more sense....but I still struggle to classify as a guy who will be completely off the ball and an elite shooter. I still feel as though his actual ability to score on his own is elite and his three point shooting is just decent....so there's kind of a direct mismatch in style of play there. I think he will have to play more like MPJ in the NBA, but if you're drafting him I wouldn't expect him to be an elite shooter and would be betting on the shot creation/making.

About his motor, I guess I have mixed reviews on that. He has moments where he definitely locks in, but I would have to disagree with those who say it is consistent. He does the salient things that show effort, but he is the opposite of a little things guy. And I guess when we're talking about the little things that help you win, it takes some intelligence as well. I can't tell if he's not playing hard or if he's just not recognizing situations.
Fair... I guess I think Ace (or maybe anyone) will have the ability to lock in more than Wiggins lol.

I think Ace has a relatively high floor. As 6'10" legit shooter, I think he will be at least a rotation player.
i guess i'm not convinced he's a legit shooter. which is a 180 from what i would have said 2 or 3 months ago. i mean, he can shoot, but can he really shoot. he reminds me a lot of Key, tbh, a 6'9" version. Key can shoot. sometimes. most of the time not all that accurately.

Ace will continue to be a top-4 prospect because he has the potential to be nearly unguardable. He can shoot over the top of defenders off the dribble and make tough shots. That skill alone makes him a top prospect.

In the NBA, he'll get more space and repetition from spots on the floor where he's comfortable. He'll also get more open lanes to drive the ball.
if you draft him, that's the sell. no question.

Slightly worse Jabari Smith Jr seems like a realistic outcome for Ace.

Good but not great shooter, good but not elite defender ( probably worse than Jabari here), fine at rebounding, horrific passer and shot creator.

Hot take: I’d rather kick the tires on trading a less-valuable pick for Cam Whitmore - who the Rockets don’t seem to care too much for - than burn the most precious pick we’ve probably ever had on Ace.

Add’l comp for Ace Bailey: Trey Murphy-plus, 30+ y.o. Paul George, maybe Brandon Miller.

He’s unlikely to be your #1, on-ball scoring option, but he should space the floor, score off of cuts and drill open shots.

He has a high center of gravity and tight hips that affect his ability to drive. I think this is what’s holding back his on-ball creation more than, say, his handle or his willingness to pass. Coaches will need to put him in positions to use his strengths, but he should flourish when they do.

Tre Johnson is a more fluid and versatile scorer overall, imo. But Ace will add defensive length, rebounds and some scoring scenarios that are difficult to counter.

Ace is also a rough fit if you believe in Lauri, Taylor, or Walker much at all because those three guys are horrible at passing and dribbling and you're adding yet another big man who can't pass or dribble.

Nahhh, Cam is a legit blackhole. Ace has potential to be a decent passer and a lot of potential to be a very good defender.

I think Cam's attitude/approach may be the biggest issue there for the Jazz. TJ had some strong quotes he deleted about him... makes me think its a no fly zone for the Jazz and has nothing to do with his game.

I definitely get having questions on Ace, as I do as well, but his shot making is legitimately special and not just a GG Jackson/Cam Whitmore level prospect.

And he can do stuff like this:

For me a big thing on him would just be how he interviews/his mindset. If he can develop his body and he works hard, he can be extremely good.

Now that the Jazz are committing to the multi-year tank, trading Lauri becomes more of a possibility. As for Hendricks, he isn't good enough to affect the Jazz's draft decision this year. It's true though, if you look at the Pelicans, they have a bunch of jumpshooters who don't drive, move the ball well or create advantages. A perimeter with Bailey, Lauri and Hendricks would have similar issues, and you'd have your point guard dominating the ball.

I dont get how Lauri/Hendricks/Bailey have similiar issues.

Bailey's *potentially* elite skill is something Lauri/Hendricks dont do at all, self-creating.
