What's new

Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I'm less excited about Harper than I was before, but it's likely because I haven't watched any of his film or thought about him for the Jazz in a long time. At one point I would have considered getting Harper a genuine franchise building block, but I'm not sure any more.

If there are any real legs to Utah trading up to grab Harper I'll go watch some video and get hyped again. For now I'm content to not be worried about losing out on him.

Feel the same way. It’s a very superficial opinion, but I can’t considered him a #1
Prospect with his shooting, athleticism, and the level of defense he played last season. Still a great prospect, but I see him more as a decent top 3 guy in most drafts.

The sample size on his catch shoot is extremely small, like 35 attempts. It's such a small sample size that one more make would have taken him from 34% to 37%. All of the indicators and the fact that he is extremely young, make it hard for me to believe he couldn't play off ball if that's where his career ends up.
Been bad at C&S in years prior as well.

Kas has a tiny sample size of catch and shoot shots….I feel comfortable deferring to his FT%. I think going from heavy OTD -> C&S is an easier transition than the other way around. FWIW, he shot 35% and 88% the year prior.

Think he will be a Dinwiddie type player with upside to be like Reaves and potentially beyond if he improves his ball handling + jumper.

OTOH, Kas’s turnovers should probably create more hesitation than they have from me. Doesn’t matter who he plays….if he played the Jr Jazz he’d probably end up with 5 TO’s lol.

The comp for Kas that I still like the best is Podz.

Podz - 6'5" , 11'.3.5" max reach (reach + vert), 11.16 lane agility, 3.2 shuttle, 3.21 sprint, projected NBA 3pt% .373
Kas - 6'6", 11'2.5" max reach (reach + vert), 10.99 agility, 2.82 shuttle, 3.22 sprint, projected NBA 3pt% .369
@NUMBERICA has a type.

On the flip side how many black players get white comps. Black players just play different compared to white players. It is what it is.
Many white to white comps are often lazy and terrible. Many guys are mixed race as well, so what bucket do we put them in under your theory here? Evaluate the player.

except podz could shoot coming out of college and kas can't. podz shot 44% from three, Kas 32% from three.

CraftedNBA released their 2025 draft guide. Pretty good stuff. The usual suspects showing up as sleepers, the usual suspects showing up as potential busts. This is the second best draft since 2010 based on the average of the top 35 prospects. 4 "elite" prospects this year.

I looked at some past draft results and their AI seems pretty good at finding sleepers, (except Dok, lol), but really bad at finding busts.

Also, anything that reinforces my love for CMB is welcome.

That’s just a numbers game though as the league is predominantly black
Okay so follow me here... if there are a lot of black players... wouldn't you have a much larger pool with which to find comps for white players?
