Because of bias from the people making the comps...
also interesting that you chalk it up to bias as bias is defined as prejudice against another person or group being unfairly judged. For example for a long time people thought black people couldnt make good quarterbacks in football. That is obviously not true. That’s not the same as comping white players to white players. Are there some, sure but there are far and away more good white on white comps compared to white on black comps.

I don’t see how bias fits in this discussion. Unless the definition of bias has evolved, so give me your definition of what the word means.

I would be fine if NOP traded up to #3 for Ace like rumors have stated. Ace is low on my priority list. Atm, my priority of realistic choices would be:

VJ
Kon
Tre
Ace
Fears
Maluach

The definition of bias hasnt changed, you just dont know what it means lmao.

People have a natural bias to compare white to white, black to black because obviously when you see someone, one of the first you will notice is skin tone.

Give me a white comp for Hakeem or Jaren Jackson Jr. see how many you come up with then see how many black comps you come up with.
Hakeem: Bill Walton, Aryvadis Sabonis, Nikola Jokic (honestly dont know, but Im not as old as you are to remember what Hakeem was exactly like, but there are a number of great back to the basket white centers)

JJJ: Chet Holmgren

The projections are likely based off of thousands of data points that suggest that players with low 3pt percentages, but high ft% and 3pt attempts end up becoming good 3pt shooters in the NBA. You seem to think that 3pt percentages always go down in the NBA vs NCAA, but that isn't the case.
Thousands?

Fact is black athletes are bigger stronger and quicker than white athletes. When was the last time there was a star Olympic sprinter? There’s a reason black players basically dominate football and basketball.
That's not a fact.

A fact is the upper echelon of elite athletes tend to be black. That doesnt really matter all that much for basketball because it's not a sport based solely in your raw athletic numbers.

But I truly believe a lot of these things are more representation leading to social bias (not fully, but to a degree). So you are a really fast white guy, but you see that everyone who is at the top of the sport isnt white, so you dont train as hard because you view it as being an unachievable goal and you pursue a different sport. I think this happens a ton in football more than any sport. White athlete? Make him a QB. Black athlete? He's going to play WR.

agreed. If someone disagrees then maybe they can name the last white 100 meter olympic gold medalist.

Can you find even a half decent black comp for Bird, Chris Mullen, and pistol Pete Maravich and Luka Dončić?
Luka is tall Harden. I only caught glimpses of Bird... you are old as **** so I have no comps for Pete Maravich. Durant is kinda new age Bird maybe. Mullin... Klay/Rashard Lewis? You are comparing a by gone era.

You can use white comps all you want... if you feel a need to use it as a qualifier then you just aren't looking deep enough.

There are no comps to Hakeem lol. He was one of the most unique and dominant players ever.
