Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I think a compelling part of Kon's case is that he was a much more high usage scorer before Duke. It could be that the lack of athleticism caught up to him, but it could also be that he played on an incredibly stacked team that didn't allow for him to be higher usage guy. "Low" usage guys turn into higher one's more than you think at the next level. Kon has a lot of the signs of someone that could do more in the NBA than he did in college.

That point about him not being able to beat anyone off the dribble really seems like a killer weakness. I see some value in him as a spot up shooter---but don't really think you're looking to draft another Buddy Hield or Luke Kennard in the top 5 or even first half of the lottery.

Buddy Hield with a supremely high care factor and a high level processor is a pretty great player tbh.

I want to see the measurements on Kon but I think he's much closer to Bane than Hield/Kennard.

So what about this idea
If Jazz don't get the #1 or #2 pick would you be willing to trade 3,4,5 to Nets for #6 and #19 pick?
Jazz may still get the guy they want at #6 and also move up a couple spots for another guy they want

No. The Jazz would pick their favorite player available in the 3-5 range. The #19 pick isn't valuable enough to make a trade like that. If they could get like #6 and #11, then it might be worth considering, but the Jazz would need to really love a guy they think will be there at #11. For example, the Jazz walk away with Fears/Kon and Murray-Boyles.

Otherwise, the Jazz could package their 2nd-round picks or take back an iffy contract to move up a few spots from #21.

The Kon love here is totally bizarre. The way people are talking themselves into liking him in the top 5 or something is like watching a slow motion car crash.

I mean, looking at these takes, we seem to be at a point where Kon was somehow limited by the presence of Cooper Flagg and the other real future NBA players on his team. Give me a F'n break. Flagg has already made Knueppel millions of dollars, never mind what happens in the draft. Getting to play the 4th option on this Duke team was the greatest thing that ever happened to Kon. Unlimited open shots, unlimited drives against closeouts because the defense had better players to worry about on the strong side.

As for being a "high usage guy" in HS... every pretty decent D1 college scorer was an unstoppable force there. It doesn't mean anything.

Kon's NBA ceiling is a much less athletic Max Strus. You don't pick those guys in the top 15.

I'm praying we'll take VJ so this nightmare can be over

i just read the little summary, but the supposed bailey/bosh comp is very funny.

I honestly don't know how Bosh looked in college so I looked it up. 56% FG and 47.8% 3FG (low volume) with 1 steal and 2.2 blocks per game. The stats look incredible. For anyone who knows, how did Bosh look in college? And does the Ace/Bosh comparison make sense? It doesn't pass the smell test to me but I'm not all that familiar with Bosh.

Tre Johnson is the one who reminds me a lot of Buddy. Elite movement shooter and off the dribble shooter...but also can't attack the basket. If he can get better as a slasher he can be very, very good but I'm not so optimistic about that.

I don't think Kon has the same versatility to his jumper, but he's a better prospect in most other aspects. Kon is more like Brice with high level IQ, and to me that's a pretty special player.

I mean Bosh was the 4th overall pick in possibly hte best draft of all time. He was very good.

i mean, it's less good vs bad, more the fact that bosh was a big man who played some 5 in the nba when he wasn't playing the 4, while Bailey is a guard/wing. just a weird comparison from that standpoint.
