Im not disagreeing with you. I was more just trying to play with potential different lineups and combinations while thinking of being a gm in a hot seat. Like it or not, due to their high draft position, Cody and Taylor are "viewed" as potential building blocks. I agree with you that neither are yet. But draft status does matter at least for a few seasons.I don’t see how that’s all related to roster construction. If the young guards on this team flame out, that is also very bad. Like why are Cody and Hendricks part of “roster construction” when they have way less proven than other young players? You’re trying to put together a puzzle that you don’t have any pieces for yet.
Even if we were going to say roster construction is very important, what guys are we even considering to be a part of that? I’d agree that we need more scoring, but that’s not because Hendricks is someone who we should be changing our pick for, it’s because Key is also not good enough. None of these guys except for Kessler are.
Whoever we draft, if the reasoning is the fit with Taylor Hendricks I am going to lose my mind. Only player good enough to influence our decision is Kessler, and all that means is we’re not a Maluach or CMB team which is fine.
Because of that, I was thinking what might the Jazz view as the best complimentary players to those guys. Maybe becoming a dominant defensive team? I don't know. But if Danny and Justin think adding a 2-way SG is going to help compliment the other players he may go that route. Again just thinking about possibilities. I've never been a fan of Keyonte so the sooner we can move on from him the better. Maybe Tre Johnson is the best fit with his lights out shooting ability.
But it does seem that Danny and Justin are trying to at least get potential 2-way players with there top lottery pick based on the last 2 drafts.
