We just saw Caruso successfully guard Jokic. Small, strong, tough guards get away with a ton in the NBA which allows them to guard up. I'm not saying that Martin has that type of defensive craft, but he's the kind of guy I would think could develop it.

I don't think I'm saying anything crazy here. He's clearly a second rounder. I like him, but I'm not predicting anything other than an end of the bench, situational rotation player.

My point was that small strong guards can get away with a lot and often guard bigger players. If you don't think that Martin can make an NBA roster, it's really not that big of a deal.

No, I think he can, but I just dont see him as a defensive savant like a Caruso. I also think we have a better version of that player on the roster already, Elijah Harkless.

He guarded passing lanes more than anything and he had Chet on the weak side as a help defender who also effectively denied pindowns and lobs. He also hurt their screen game by switching and attacking the ballhandler aggressively so they couldnt execute normal PnR and DHO plays with Joker acting as the screener.

It wasnt mano a mano lockdown defense where he was sent by the coach to singlehandedly take on the big guy. It was a team scheme thing.

I think Fleming's floor is 16. I just dont see the Magic passing on a prospect with his length who can also shoot and plays a position of need (assuming they dont retain Mo Wagner. Feel like they will, but maybe the money is too tight to bring on a 11 million dollar bench player?)

Fleming cannot protect the paint at all. He's a "center" in the same way Naz Reid is (In that he's not)

1.5 BPG in the A-10 as a Junior and his tape is massively worse but but but His Standing Reach!

He's a big PF with intriguing ball handling and shooting skill. If anyone thought he was a real center, he would be a top 7 pick. Literally everyone disagrees with you. You might be right, but there's basically nothing here other than his standing reach that suggests he can play center and not suck at it.
