Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Philon and Flemings would be fine next to Keyonte, in my opinion, because they don't need to dominate the ball and can both play defense. There is no way I would take Lopez or Avdalas with a top 8 pick with the Jazz's biggest weakness by far being defense. We'll see what Tounde and Carr do in conference play.

I mostly agree on Quaintance being a big risk when you have Kessler as a mostly non shooter, however, there might not be a better bet in the draft at solving our defensive issues than Quaintance.

Defense matters for sure, but I think the Jazz will make moves in free agency and trades to address it. The best defenders are proven vets. The top half of the lotto is where you try to draft players with star ceilings.

Quaintance is interesting, but he's a big who already had knee surgery. He's not really close to NBA ready, so I dont get how drafting him would make the Jazz want to part with Kessler. If anything they would keep Kessler and have Quaintance develop behind him and see how becomes expendable.

He's got health red flags and offensive red flags with how bad his shooting touch is while being an undersized 5.

I mean, we have taught literally none of our young guys or vets how to defend and NBA defense is weak-link driven now.

The Will Hardy Jazz are historically inept on defense, he's the worst defensive coach of all time statistically and we have to address it in every way this offseason.

Drafting another C in the top 8 would be like the 87th sign that the Jazz don't really want Kessler as their long term C.

I've got a feeling he falls to the middle of the first once medical teams get hold of the info.

It may be the injury but he just moves in a clunky way that doesn't inspire confidence for me... on top of the offensive stuff.

I get what you're saying with his movement, he looks top heavy. For all the twitter glaze Quaintance has, he's been a little underwhelming.

I don't know many prospects outside the top 4 or 5 but I did watch a highlight video of Carr and he seemed very athletic and powerful and seemed like a dawg. Looked like he had decent size but I'm not sure what position he would play for the jazz.

Carr is an athletic 2/3 imo. Role-wise he might be similar to Shaedon Sharpe. The question for me is how much he can do off the dribble. He's a good shooter and play finisher, but doesn't appear to self-create as much from what I've seen.

And maybe it doesn't matter but combined with injury concerns and the offense I just can't get there with him. With his red flags he needs to be an other worldly defensive prospect to really justify a top 8 pick in this draft.

But is he as thiccc as Kon?

On a serious note, I think you've been ahead of the game on Wagler. He should be getting more attention than he has.
He isn't. I can see him getting slept on though... maybe has some Haliburton to him?

I think Tounde will be a *safe* pick and will probably end up a top-10ish guy when it's said and done. He might not be a star, but he should be a very solid NBA player with a long career. Think like a Jerry Stackhouse. Teams love that archetype.

Hmm...maybe. I haven't watched him enough to have a great comparison, but numbers wise he compares well to a lot of good players. He is light skinned so that opens up a lot more available comparisons than Kon had. The comparison I want to make is Booker which was off limits for Kon for obvious reasons.

I need to get a feel for whether or not he could scale up. Kon and Jase were the two guys I thought could scale up last year and there were signs. Kon was elite whenever Flagg was off the court and Jase was clearly being held back by worse upperclassmen. College coaches aren't great at this pecking order stuff, so I wonder if Wagler could perform in a higher usage role. Lot of mouths to feed on that Illinois roster.

Hasn't he played like 2 games and is still on a minutes restriction?

When he's in the game you can feel his impact, at least for the minutes I've seen him.

The Jazz absolutely can't draft a guy with a bad defensive grade this year. We have way too many non defenders on this team.

Lauri and Key have shown that they can be good enough offensive hubs to have a good offense. If we draft in the 5-8 range I need someone with defensive talent.
