Following Potential 2026 Draftees

Philon is growing on me. I haven't had an opportunity to watch him yet. Is he still a 2way player. I remember last year he was a good defender. Is he still known as a good defender?

Rhat is what we need next to key

Ok looking at his measurements and they are not great for a 2 guard but not awful. 6'4" maybe in shoes 6'7" wing span. So he might be a better PG at the next level. Key and Philon would be a short back court.

I just love players that play with intensity like he does.

His defense has dropped off, but it's kind of understandable given his offensive load. I think his ideal role in the NBA is similar to how he played last year as more of a combo guard. I think he would fit perfectly next to Keyonte. Defensively I think he would be fine as your lead guard defender, but he's just not very switchable.

I think of all the guards who have been really good this year Philon has the most bust potential.

Hmmm... I guess I kind of still don't really believe in his shot, even though he's had more than enough volume to believe. He's also the probably the smallest from a weight perspective. So maybe I get where you are coming from.

He's also just an incredible competitor, building off of a really good Freshman season where he just needed to shoot better and then comes in his Sophomore year and starts shooting better. He's been incredibly productive and important for his team this year.

So... I don't know, I think you are probably wrong about this one.

Picking highest usage guys for biggest bust potential is usually a sound move, but I like Philons shot selection and playmaking. I think those two things carry you pretty far offensively in the NBA.

Most of these guys play on-ball in college but are relegated to off ball roles in NBA, so when looking at bust potential I try to envision taking the ball out of their hands and seeing whats left.

We have a whole year of him playing off ball and being very effective at it. The only thing was his shooting and his shooting has been great this year.

These videos are too long for me but watching in real-time you could see him evaluate exactly what they were doing to try and slow him down... then he'd flip to the next solution instantly. He was a human torch, which is what opened up all the stuff but still really impressive to see that none of the stuff they threw at him had him bothered. Trusted his teammates when he needed to and was just in such complete control.

Truly impressive stuff. Looks like he's never set foot in the weight room. I think there is some serious potential here.

It's way to early to do this, but I can't help but think about how the draft board may fall. I wonder if Flemings and Wagler establish themselves as firm top 6 players. Flemings I think is pretty much there and might go #4. Drafting at #5 or #6 is a fairly unlikely outcome atm, but I suppose there can always be draft day trades.

Drafting 5 or 6 may be pretty likely if we can continue to lean into the tank. NOP are about the only team I think has a 50/50 shot or better of passing us. Partly because we can control that a bit ourselves.

I wonder if those guys popping helps us potentially trade up to 4 maybe if a pg starved team is willing to do something. Either way those guys showing out should help... either draft them or trade up or down the board if their stock continues to rise.
