Could booing just be a form of criticizing them when they are performing poorly at their work?

I get criticized if I perform poorly at my job. I could even be disciplined, suspended, or fired depending on how poorly I do. Am I being dehumanized when I disciplined for sucking at my job?

1) This is entertainment. If someone is more entertained/happier booing so be it.
2) Being a fan does not mean that you unconditionally support the actions of a team. Rather, it means that you like a team and want the best for it. If a player/coach/GM/owner is doing something that isn't good for the team, communicating disapproval in the form of booing does not make you any less of a fan of the team.
3) Don't want booing, then lower the price of a ticket! The simple truth in life is that when you pay more for something, you expect better. For example, if you buy a car for $100 and it drives, some of the speakers work, and sometimes has A/C then you will be thrilled! But, you would "boo" the crap out of the same car if you had to pay $100k.

I think players should have thinker skin and not be bothered by boos. And it doesn't hurt me that Joe said what he said either.

I won't be sending him any hatemail or tweets or anything. Still a big fan of jingles and can't wait to cheer him when I go to the game a week from today.
If they get down by 20 points on the first half against the Cavs in that game then I probably won't boo. But I won't care if others do.

Whether you think it is okay to boo or not is just an opinion. As such, I think it is very hypocritical of Locke to complain about how there is so much group think in the world and how we get caught up in an echo chamber, but then to be pissed off when people have a different opinion than him. How about just explaining your perspective without demonizing those that disagree with you (especially without making any attempt to understand their reasons or thought process for booing).

I admit that I didn't listen to the podcast. I also haven't commented on Locke or his podcast in this thread.
Imo I don't need to listen to something Locke says in order to have an opinion on whether booing is appropriate or not or ok or not or whatever.

Do you think listening to Locke is necessary to have an opinion about booing?

@firegirl & @NUMBERICA, what do you mean by dehumanizing them? When I boo an entertainer, I am booing their performance, not them as a person. Likewise, when I cheer for an entertainer, I am cheering their performance, not them as a person. Is this what you mean by dehumanizing? If so, why is this wrong?
