What's new

For anyone wondering why Alec played 12 minutes last night...

I've learned through harsh experience when a college player is described as "having trouble with outside shot," as were Burks and Quincy Lewis, take it seriously and don't draft him if you want a shooter. I honestly don't believe that shooting can be an acquired skill. Can you think of many players who have gone from questionable to capable shooters? Burks simply can't shoot, and as Locke has pointed out ad infinitum, two guards in this league have to be better-than-average shooters. Time to give up on Burks and move on.

yeah. Malone for starters.

Groupthink around here is player development is all on coaching and playing time. Actual player talent doesn't matter, only what we hope they can become. If they do not, then we go searching for excuses.

Franklinthink is that coaches don't matter. Just role the ball out and let them play. Tell that to the Lakers and bulls and celtics, along with the patriots and 49ers.

A player who shows zero improvement in his shooting fundamentals has had failed coaching. Mebbe the coaching failed because the player couldn't or wouldn't get it, but it is a failure all the same.
