What's new

For anyone wondering why Alec played 12 minutes last night...

Dude, you kind of called me out one time when I was pissing on everyone's fire for Burks.

Well, you were running a troll b/c the brain trust disagreed with you at the time. It's all good now that they agree with you though. Be a little more patient next time?

Burks is terrific in the open floor and a great slasher. If the only shots he is getting are 20-footers off the dribble, how much blame do you put on him, how much do you put on his teammates, and how much do you put on the coach and his system?

I'm putting blame on Corbin, he should use Burks strengths more... but yeah....

Whoa this is more about the video player to me than the Alec crap.

Alec is the reason that you don't draft uber athletic guys who don't know how to play smart basketball. I haven't seen much of Wiggins or Embiid and this is probably stupid to say, but that would be my concern there.

He did make both of his shots that he was called for travelling on at least.
(A floater just outside the paint and a shot in the paint after a pump fake and then getting bumped into a travel)

I must be the only person in here that didn't see anything wrong with the shots Burks took. They weren't highly contested shots for the most part, the defense was giving him room, he just missed them. They didn't even look like bad misses.

What's he supposed to do? Not shoot when the defender sags off?

You're not the only one. He played his role and missed 3 of 4 poor looks.

I've learned through harsh experience when a college player is described as "having trouble with outside shot," as were Burks and Quincy Lewis, take it seriously and don't draft him if you want a shooter. I honestly don't believe that shooting can be an acquired skill. Can you think of many players who have gone from questionable to capable shooters? Burks simply can't shoot, and as Locke has pointed out ad infinitum, two guards in this league have to be better-than-average shooters. Time to give up on Burks and move on.

Well, first off, these aren't good shots, he is off-balance every time. Secondly, that's his problem - he is a decent shooter with his feet set, and has even worked on a quicker release, but he is terrible off the dribble. He just can't get his body balanced, and his shot arc tends to be flat. Which is basically why the defence is happy to give him these kind of looks.

When the best thing you can say about someone is that they miss makeable shots their might be cause for pause.
