Free Agent Rumors Thread

I don't think either one would be asked to do much of anything, tbh. I think Honeycutt may be a better asset now, and even if he is not, I think he will be within a short amount of time.

Not if he doesn't get the playtime under Quin's new system because he can't shoot it. A guy rotting away on the bench is hardly going to become an 'asset'.

Everyone on the team is an asset. Yes, some are worth more than others.

Thomas and Honeycutt would both be garbage time players. Neither one are going to be showcasing their skills in regular season action. I think Thomas sucks. I know nothing about Honeycutt, but think that he might suck less. I think he might be the better player, so I pick him. Really nothing to debate, we just have a difference of opinion about two garbage time players.

All I'm saying is it seems like under this new system we're looking at guys who can shoot it for his/her position. Even Booker has a nice jumper as illustrated by his chart shot I posted a few days ago. Thomas also has a nice stroke for his position.

Good shooters and maximum effort players.
Quin likely has some input into who he wants signed. I think Novak and Booker are his kind of guys. What's exciting to me is you see a glimpse of Snyder's system in summer league. I've watched a few other games and some have been little more than pick-up style games. Utah has been moving the ball around and setting screens. The guards have been penetrating and getting it inside, or throwing it out for a 3-pt shot. Jazz basketball is FUN TO WATCH. When was the last time we could say that?

Fixed.

I agree with this. While I'm not particularly enamored with Honeycutt, I'd definitely take him over Thomas. Clark flat out sucks. I guess I was confused earlier when you were pimping Honeycutt, I thought you were promoting him as more than a garbage time player.

I just don't like Thomas or Clark at all.

Honeycutt should be on a roster, he will gladly wait his turn on the bench, theres no doubt in my mind about that. His other option is playing in Russia, hes got a contract for the next 2 seasons for 1 mil total there.

I have a problem with Malcolm Thomas being so old(we already have Jeremy Evans), Players like Honeycutt and Aminu can still be developed and molded slightly. Thomas will need to prove his worth on an ungauranteed deal and play to preserve his career.

Honeycutt has proven he belongs in the NBA IMO, this is the time to give him the stop-gap contract, the Gerald Green min deal to Brooklyn.

Not a shooter.

So yeah, again, just not gonna fit in Quinn's new offensive system. Sorry.
I guess gobert, exum, and alec are all going to be gone soon

No, it's everyone except the center position. I'd suggest you go watch some of last season's Hawks game which Quin and Budenholzer implemented. It basically is 1 skilled center/big surrounded by good spacing/ball movement and 4 other guys who stands on the 3pt line and shoot.

We'll still need quick guards who handle and bring the ball up the court quickly before the defense is set (Exum in the starting lineup and Burks in the 2nd unit?), but other than that we need shooters all round.

So you said that lindsey only wants good shooters for thier position at every position other than center.

I brought up exum (you know, the guy they just drafted to be thier franchise player hopefully) who is a very poor shooter from three point and from the line.

You are incorrect about your original point.

Of course now you will spin it and change your original point to try to make it so you are not wrong still.
smd

Exum has a potential to be that quick guard that brings the ball up and I don't think his 3pt shot is broken by any means. I'm just saying for new FAs signings I doubt Lindsey would go after guys who don't figure to be in our future plans and cannot shoot.
