Free Agent Rumors Thread

Of course now you will spin it and change your original point to try to make it so you are not wrong still.

Exum has a potential to be that quick guard that brings the ball up and I don't think his 3pt shot is broken by any means. I'm just saying for new FAs signings I doubt Lindsey would go after guys who don't figure to be in our future plans and cannot shoot.

So basically, DL wants shooters everwhere except at the center position, and the guard positions.

Gotcha

No, it's everyone except the center position. I'd suggest you go watch some of last season's Hawks game which Quin and Budenholzer implemented. It basically is 1 skilled center/big surrounded by good spacing/ball movement and 4 other guys who stands on the 3pt line and shoot.

We'll still need quick guards who handle and bring the ball up the court quickly before the defense is set (Exum in the starting lineup and Burks in the 2nd unit?), but other than that we need shooters all round.

I had a few players i was considering but i went with Honeycutt because hes the best 3 point shooter that I think the jazz would gamble on.

Michael Beasley isnt an option, i dont think, hed be the craziest 13th or 14th man ever added to a Jazz roster for certain if it happened, which it wont.

Wesley Johnson is Wesley Johnson but he shot 37% from 3 last season. Do not want.

I was considering some Summer league guys, Amath M'Baye has alot of talent but isnt reliable from 3 like Honeycutt. Ronald Roberts Jr. belongs in the D-league, I'm on the fence about him vs Malcolm Thomas.

Devin Ebanks IS reliable from 3 he shot 44% from 3 last year in the d-league on 5.1 attempts per, he'd really be an ideal fit, the Jazz wont sign him though, Arrested for Marijuana possession last year, might as well go for Beasley. Too bad though hes balling in the SL, and is a Brooklyn Native.

Aminu is a non-shooter but hes capable of knocking down mid-range shots, just doesn't look for it much, I still think he works here, I really dont want to face Aminu on the Spurs.

Francisco Garcia is a reliable 3 and d guy, has been for years, my only issue is that hes going to command minutes to preserve his career.

Honeycutt's rebounding is really, really, really good though. 27 rebounds in the last 2 games, maybe that 9.3 rebound per game # wasnt a formation of playing in the Israeli league.

??? I said I don't think they think Exum's shot is broken. Burks also stroked the 3 pretty well last season. Anyhow these are guys we have invested interest in as they're our draft picks so it's worth spending time and effort grooming them.

My point is for new FA's however, it's unlikely DL will be interested in investing as much time and effort. Him going out to get Novak is an evidence of this (i.e., getting a ready made shooter to fit the new system).

This.

Except you think Honeycutt can shoot the 3, I don't think our FO thinks he can.

And yeah Garcia is probably the most likely candidate out of this group given his ability to consistently shoot the 3pt shot. Hence this headline here last week:

I not so certain about that, The Jazz worked him out days after he committed to the Heat Summer League team, I bet the Jazz would've loved to have him on the squad this summer.

Word is Honeycutt had more lucrative offers than the 1 mil/ 2 year deal he signed in Russia, but that deal has an NBA out, so hes going for it this season, at 24, i wish him luck.

Its not all about his shooting either, like i said you can put in Hood, Novak or Hayward at 3 if Shooting is needed at every position for whatever scenario.

Honeycutt put up 15/9/4 with 2 steals and 1 block a game, hes a well rounded player, I can list probably 50 SF's not in the NBA who can shoot it(dont need to look much further than Erik Murphy), thats not what we need though, thats Novak's job.

On the last game of the regular season he had 18(on 6/9 shooting) 17 rebs and 7 assists with 2 blocks and 2 steals

PGAB is walking that line of being a normally obnoxious poster and becoming homeytennis.
Put me on ignore and dont respond to any of my posts then, i dont give a ****, I'd much prefer that.

The Jazz worked this guy out... 2 months ago, how far fetched is it really?

Yall complained about the Al Farouq Aminu campaign and there was David Locke tweeting about him last week.

As i've said before in other threads I've hit on many of these type of under the radar free agent signings. One of the original players i repped like this was Steve Novak (he then proceeded to lead the league in 3pt shooting and land a 4 year 15 mil deal)

Im quite certain that Malcom Thomas and Ian Clark do not have what it takes, so im actively trying to find replacements that id prefer, the talent pool in FA is thinning out quickly.

Thank you thank you thank you very much. I read that most of Ian's contract is guaranteed on August 1 unless he is waived, Murphy has $100,000 coming to him if he's not waived by August 1 and Thomas is totally non guaranteed. He has to make the team to get paid.

Great news, thats plenty of time to replace these bums with fresh blood.
