Free Alec Burks

I'm perfectly fine with the playing time Burks got. The Jazz won. Burks is a selfish chucker from everything I've ever seen.

How can he be labeled a chucker when he doesn't even play? I bet he has less shot attempts than everyone on the team other than evans and murphy.... but he is a chucker?

Loved the fight, aggressiveness and hustle of the team. Loved that the 2nd unit played a little smash mouth. That has always been more my style. Not only beat them but break them. That is exactly the type of play I see from Kanter. I see Burks as being that way on the O end as well. He will keep coming.

After sleeping on it I am going to take this approach.

Fantastic win and if Burks wants time on the floor then he needs to step up and make it to where they dont have a choice but play him.

This is a funny statement.... how can he make it so they dont have a choice but to play him? Corbin is the coach so he will ALWAYS have the choice to play him or not.

Burks could score 20 pts and have 15 assists and 10 rebounds in a game and then get a dnp the next if that is what the COACH chooses

shots per minute is usually a good indicator, not total shots. You must hate math.

Respectfully forgive me for remaining skeptical at the 'If Burks earns his minutes he'll play'. The exact same coach stuck him behind Bell Miles and Howard for over half the year last season.

And plus it's the perfect excuse... anytime Burks starts to play for whatever reason it can be declared he finally 'earned it'.

Definately... especially if you think speed and quickness are part of being "athletic"

Well give me the shots per minute for each player on the team and prove to me he is a chucker then.
Last nights box score shows me he played 2 minutes with zero attempts and an assist.

Burks - 6 shots per 15 minutes = .4 shots a minute
Howard - 8 shots per 23 minutes = .34 shots a minute
Miles - 8 shots per 20 minutes = .4 shots a minute
Bell - 5 shots per 23 minutes = .2 shots a minute

I wasn't the one calling him a chucker, but he has the same shots a minute stat as a certain player nicknamed Chucker ........ soooooo if the shoe fits and walks like a duck then its a Burks.

Those other guys got consistent minutes though and have been in the league for a LONG time.
If burks is in fact a chucker once he gets minutes then its a coaches job to try to correct that.

Also we have no idea if burks is being told to go out and be a scorer when he is placed into the game. (which is exactly what i think he should be doing since he is a scorer)

See, being a chucker is not always a bad thing.... there have to be scorers in this league. Kobe, d rose, and durant are all "chuckers" and that is what they should be.... I think that burks identity in this league will be that of a scorer so he should be shooting alot when he gets into the game.

Oh and you should have done the shots per minute thing for everyone on the jazz, not just the guys you want to use in your example.
I would be willing to bet that Kanter takes more shots per minute.

I did it for guys that basically played the same position. Feel free to do the rest of the team if you'd like. CJ was known as a chucker so technically so should burks. I do think Burks should be taking mroe shots than some other people becuase he is a scorer, but like you said those other guys are veterans, generally it doesnt go over well when a rookie comes in and starts putting up shots right away.
