What's new

Friday Jazz VS Blazers 7pm MT

Sap is older so not sure how much potential he had but I'd like to hang on to him and joe as they are both cheap and have showed they can be decent fill ins when we need help because of injuries.

Quinn took Carroll from nice role player to elite defender who can hit the three. Millsap the next DMC?

While Millsap is older than DMC which points to "it is proven that he can't shoot", I think that it is just as likely that Millsap has NEVER had the right coaching to get him to his full potential. Because of his D, it is very worth it to let Jazz staff work him a bit and see if it can be improved. Also, Millsap has shown that he is a team contributor in a great way. I think we'll see him as an important cog with the Jazz going forward.

Snyder said at the beginning of the year that defense was the overriding factor for playing time and roles.

By the trade deadline, Kanter is gone and Trey is running the 2nd unit. I like the trend and hope it continues. I'd love for the Jazz team to be considered an elite defensive team.

We still need shooters, but there's now some cap space (and assets) to take a shot there this offseason. But this defensive effort and philosophy is so critical to move forward with. I wouldn't focus on drafting or signing players that won't fit into that culture.

And then I'd move heaven and earth to hire Chip Engelland this offseason. Imagine if the "shot doctor" was working with Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Burks, Exum, Booker and Burke right now. Just on free throws. Considering how much they pay on players. . . I'd make him an offer that he can't refuse.

Millsap is shooting 38% from 3... He just should never be allowed to dribble or drive. It doesn't end well. He also passes in the 3 too much. This is where the coaching comes in. Don't think we should project a ton more for him but he'll likely get smarter and his shooting is already good enough.

Awesome things about the Jazz right now:

1. Gobert is something special that very few teams will ever have.
2. If you don't like Trevor booker, you're doing it wrong
3. Favors is a very good power forward
4. Hayward is awesome
Allah dis

Love this team

LOL - Millsap is the oldest player on the team now.

He's basically Ronnie Brewer without the talent he had surrounding him to make up for his offensive deficiencies.

Like his defense - plays hard, can guard 3 positions. But, also like Brewer, it seems very easy to get him out of position.

All in all, not a bad guy for a D-Leaguer. Jazz can do a lot worse. God knows they have. But I wouldn't expect much more than what we're seeing right now.

So no Tony Allen potential? Are you sure?

Man, the **** you hear on these forums.

Millsap is a better guy to have at the end of the bench than Evans. At least Millsap has an NBA skill.

Evans is a fine end of the bench kind of guy though. He hasn't had a chance this year. Remember last year? Perfectly acceptable 4th big.
