Holy ****! Larry cared less about rings than anyone. Jazz NEVER went into luxury tax until Larry died because he loved his ****ing Dr. Peppers more than he loved his life. Larry was 1000% about making money off this team. Gail is only 100% about that. I bet she'd spend some luxury tax money in the right situation. Larry never did. NEVER. Throw one more significant piece along side Stockton, Malone and Hornacek and the Jazz get a title. If you pass in '97 it's an easy call in '98. Larry stood pat. They reward continuity, loyalty, and strong fiscal results. It's a business first, a legacy second, a passion project 5th or 6th. The franchises that take the risks are passion projects 1st, with owners fully dedicated to winning. Cuban is a good example. So this is fully in keeping with the values of the franchise. Slow and steady maintain the bottom line and put butts in the seats. I don't believe any of them really care about rings, not since Larry died.
