Game 3 Houston @ home who's going

The problem is that you're comparing what other teams do to what the Jazz do. Most teams are susceptible to the corner 3. The Jazz under Ty have been pretty average at defending the 3, despite having a poor overall defense (with weak interior D, guards have to play further off their men).

I think he's saying that we've given up a lot of open corner threes and the opponents have just missed them. So our stats look good, but on court it isn't.

My point still stands. If he wants to dig up stats showing corner 3 percentage (even better if you can get open v. contested), and show that what he's saying is true, that's fine. Without that, however, we'll have to wait and see. I'm inclined to believe that 2+ years of evidence trumps one person's eye test over 3 games.

Not that anyone cares, but these are the relevant corner 3 stats this season:

League average: 2.0875/5.35 per game, .390187 corner 3PT%

Jazz opponents: 1.6667/5.3333 per game, .3125 corner 3PT%

If Jazz opponents had hit their corner 3s at a league average rate, the Jazz would have given up an additional 1.24 points per game.

The Jazz have not, however, given up "a lot" of corner 3s. They've given up slightly less than league average (which is fairly consistent with their performance the last 2+ seasons under Ty).

Taking it back to the start of the 11/12 season:

Jazz opponents corner 3PT FGA/game: 5.1192

League average corner 3PT FGA/game: 5.2538

Only two Jazzmen have been okay from three, Jefferson and Hayward.

And on that note, Hayward sure looks like a younger, better passing Jefferson, doesn't he? A lot of the per/36 stats are eerily similar after 3 games.

I really like watching this Jazz team. They are fighting hard. They only need to be consistent on shooting. And try to learn to use the energy in a more saving fashion for the end of the games which are gonna obviously be close. Ty's rotation amazed me. He is absolutely free to use that squad. He does whatever he wants whenever he wants and don't care about big bucks veteran's regular minutes. Last 2 years, you knew exactly when Big Al would sit and Kanter would replace him. This season is really fun to watch.

Amazingly I have not even pissed too much with jefferson, lucas, tinsley, or corbin.

Really enjoying this season so far....... and next year?...... my god, probably best season since the western conference finals with the big 4 (booze, ak, d-will, money man)

Love what lindsay has done with the place.
And the tank even makes the college season alot more fun/interesting to watch.

I'm getting what I wanted and really enjoying it.... can't wait till burke gets back!!!

Okay, you win. Where do you get such stats?

They're on nba.com: Stats (hover over)>Sortable Team Stats>Team Opp Shots (per game or totals, by zone). You can choose years back to '96/'97. I copied some into excel to sum over years and get league averages.
