I love me some GF, but I'm totally not on board with this.

There was more than enough in those two books to fill two seasons, probably three, MAYBE four if they added a bunch more rape, boobies, baby slaying. The crap they cut out, along with the changes they had made to the timeline made it feel like a series of cheap shock moments instead of a real story coming to bloom.

Still not bad. Still very watchable, and very water cooler talk. But given everything that was there in the books, they could have done oh so much more. Part of me wonders if the contraction of the books was either a push to GRRM to get the 6th book out, or a push to try to separate the series from the books so we have two different stories.
 
I thought the show-writers were blatantly lazy with Stannis. If you're going to deviate with the books, at least show some creativity - not just shock for shock's sake.

Did stannis get his *** kicked at winterfell in the books?

I know brienne story to be completely different.

Nope. Haven't gotten there yet. And he's the best military strategist in the books, and has a trap set for young Ramsay. Even if he isn't victorious, he surely won't be burning his daughter and getting annihilated in open battle with a rag-tag group of men within a span of five minutes then killed as the show writers did.
 
Oh ya, Zombie Gregor (Mountain) doe. That is pretty cool
