What's new

GAME THREAD: 12/9/13, Blazers at Jazz, 7 pm local

This!! I'm so tired of people making excuses for Jefferson. His D is terrible and he makes a lot of bad decisions on offense as well. Power of the vet I guess.

I definitely wouldn't say he makes a lot of bad decisions on offense. He's no Chris Paul, but he's been rather okay given that he's in one of the last seasons of his career, and people thought he was done last season-- meaning he was probably out to prove his worth this year.

Defensively, he's a sieve. A ****ing shame that Brandon Rush hasn't gotten up to speed yet.

Burks isn't a great defensive player by any stretch, but Jefferson...he's ****ing terrible. Dude ball watches like nobody's ****ing business. The Jazz are thin on the wing, so he'll get his minutes, but there's no reason he should be getting more than Burks (although this depends somewhat on what's happening off the court/in practice, I suppose).

Also, Kanter still isn't boxing out. What the ****? He just refuses to put his body between his man and the basket, choosing instead to try to push players with his arms, putting himself out of position to grab rebounds AND allowing the opposition to get wherever they want. Can anyone offer an explanation? Very confusing.

As far as the Jefferson playing time goes, the only explanation I can think of is that Ty is thinking since Jefferson is a Small Forward, he needs to play. But why can't he just play Hayward at SF, and Burks at the 2? I mean, we are playing horribly and losing anyways, right?

The Kanter rebounding thing just blows me away. I mean, he was at one point the best young rebounder in the league. People were saying that he was going to lead the league in rebounding one day, and that it was an elite skill he possessed. I do remember reading about how Ty had coached them to have Kanter get back for the fast break, and not focus on defensive rebounding, but that still does not mean when you are trying for a rebound you should just be an idiot. Time for an outside opinion for the Jazz coaching staff, I think.

Do you mean offensive rebounding? I'm talking about his defensive rebounding.

No, it was definitely about defensive rebounding. I don't remember where it was. I think it was in preseason some time. Maybe it was just on 1280thezone or something. They were talking about how Kanter was supposed to get out on the break, and Favors was the guy getting the defensive rebounding. I remember it because they were saying that Kanter was going to have lower rebounding numbers because of it, and Favors might lead the league in rebounding.

The **** you talking bout, dal? You no want the Wuggins?

Pet Peeve- Jeremy Evans screens are terrible.

Kanter's are not very good either. Seriously someone needs to teach them how to set a good screen.

Actually, I think Kanter has been setting much better screens the last couple of games. It helps having a point guard that knows how to use them. Up until this last game, I never saw Hayward actually use a Kanter screen or pick.
