What's new

Game Thread: Denver Nuggets @ Utah, Monday, November 11, 7:00 pm MST

WEll, then we obviously need to trade Hayward, Kanter or Favors for him according to some posters on this board who give credence to +/- stats.
Just because you don't understand the stat and others misuse it doesn't mean it's of no value.

This is my main takeaway. There is nobody who can consistently help. If all 4 are on at once, we have a good chance to win but if even one of them falters a bit there is nobody to pick up the slack.

We don't have a single really complementary player and none of our best 4 are good enough to even semi-regularly take over a game. Still, I think we could actually be a decent team next year if we add Wiggins or Parker and a couple of role players.

Even if the Jazz's young 4 all play well, I don't think they have a chance to win. No matter what the young 4 do, they're going to get outplayed at the PG spot and off the bench by 15+ pts. I think they know this, and that's why you see guys like Kanter and Favors only bring it on certain nights.

The last 5 minutes or so of the 3rd quarter Favors had a look in his eyes. He was calling for the ball, playing like a beast on both ends, great body language - you can see the confidence being injected back into him. And for his efforts, he's benched the first 4 minutes of the 4th quarter. For ****'s sake Corbin forget about your rotations for a second and ride the hot hand you robot - what do you have to lose?

I did see that Favors looked awesome then. He was kind of directing the team, wanting them to play harder on both sides. I liked that Favors.

You can't ask Favors and Hayward to put up bigger numbers than they did, given the attention they're getting from the defense. Kanter coasted a bit and Burks didn't shoot that well, but the Jazz still lost by 19 points to a depleted team.

Kanter + Favors + Hayward scored 55 pts. and shot just over 50%. That's an avg. of 18.3 pts per player with 50% shooting.

The rest of the team combined scored 26 pts. on 25% shooting (9/36).

Guess who's going to get trapped and double-teamed all night. Beating the Jazz is a cake walk.

I don't believe that anyone doesn't know what that stat means

There hasn't been a better post in the last three years. Corbin sucks. I gave him a fresh start this year, and he's already spent all my patience. There's no margin for error with this squad, and when he burns thru that margin it infuriates me.

I think the Jazz will get their first win when either a) Trey Burke comes back and starts chipping in 15 pts. and 9 assits, or b) when Kanter goes off for 38 points.

Short of that, I don't see how it's empirically possible for the Jazz to win games.
