Game Thread: Jazz vs. $210 Million Payroll known as the Nets

Your vision is stuck in today's sight. What did you expect from a guy that has been **** all over by his coach by sending to DL in a team full of mostly not so greater players compared to his level? He is a damn rookie and I saw what I needed from him earlier this season. If I were the Jazz FO man (since the HC won't do jack**** about it) I would give this guy to a physician and bulk him up, make him work with a bigman coach that is also big. Not like Ty who falls down when Kanter hits him. I think there is a gem in there. And it's worth working on.

Not so sure about Rudy bulking up. Getting stronger yes, but one of his greatest assets is his quickness, especially for a guy his size. Bulking up would take that away. Not every successful player is built like a brick-doo-doo house. Durant and Ray allan and Reggie come to mind.

Found the play by play on the utah jazz app.

32 seconds left alec burks get a dunk (great pass from trey and great cut without the ball by burks) to get the jazz within 4.

The jazz foul with 16 seconds left but that doesnt even get them in the penalty. So NJ inbounds and we foul blatche with 14 seconds left. Lol

Then with 14 seconds, down by 6, we can only get a 2 point shot so we are still down by 4 with 4 seconds left or some such. Burks took the shot available but that was a sucker play and he still should have looked for someone for a 3, that was the only hope.

Good point

Didn't someone (Williams?) brick a 3 and Burks scored on a put back. I don't think you can turn down points with that much time left.

No, Brooklyn played good defense and we couldn't get a catch at teh 3pt line. The best play was to just catch and drive straight to the basket. We needed a 3, but you can't waste time trying to get the ball to the 3pt line, better to just take a split second to get 2, then to take 5 seconds to search for 3.

Important point. Ömer Aşık had decent touch but lost it after working out. He is still pretty agile for a guy his size in my opinion, but obviously still a little slow and staminaless for the league's pace.

I wouldn't wan Gobert to lose his perks on bulking up neither. True basketball players can achieve success with their talent solely, but if he can be more stronger to be a presence and open up space like Aşık does when he pulls two defenders in the paint for the rebound moment, the Jazz can have more successful three point shooters.

I looked up the play by play.

Williams misses 3 pt shot attempt.
Alec burks rebounds
Alec burks makes 2 pt shot.

good call candrew

The problem was the decision to foul/not foul. You either decide to play defense or you don't. Two quick fouls to put them on the line or take your chances by having them run the clock down to 8 seconds. Then try for a 3, foul, and another 3.

Personally, I think fouling is the way to go at 32 seconds. Eight seconds is not a lot of time to get two decent 3-pt attempts + account for the time it takes to commit a foul. But Corbin was completely clueless as to how much time was left. Was comical to see a 24 second shot clock get turned into 30 seconds.

I thought he was talking about the play with 0:11 seconds remaining. Jazz needed a 3, but couldn't get an inbounds play at the 3pt line so just opted for a Burks cut to the basket off the pass.

Ya thats what i thought you must have been thinking of.

At that point there was actually 32 seconds left though so they didnt technically NEED a three

Edit: there was a play at 11 seconds left when alec scored a reverse layup but there was no assist involved.

The play at 32 seconds left was the backdoor cut by alec with a great feed by trey, for a burks dunk
