What's new

Gamethread: Jazz @ Suns. 8 PST

How can you expect him to get comfortable, confident, or in any sort of rhythm with the sort of short lease and spotty minutes he's been getting? Rubio is just more reliable. Reliably bad, but still reliable. It gives me flashbacks to the Corbin era.

Look at the 4th quarter. Exum enters the game at 11:33 remaining and gets yanked at 8:55. He then re-enters the game for the final 2 minutes of garbage time. He entered the game at 2:00 remaining in the 1st quarter and got pulled with 9:30 remaining in the 2nd. He's literally playing in 2 minute stretches.

He doesnt typically play 2 minute stretches though. He did tonight because he was ****ing up too much and the jazz needed to win this game.

In the 11 games prior to Exum rolling his ankle (starting with Miami on Dec. 12th when he began receiving consistent minutes and was healthy), his per 36 stats:

pts ast trb fg fga fg3 fga3 ft fta stl to ast/to fg%
18.06 7.91 3.44 6.88 14.45 1.20 3.10 3.10 3.10 0.86 2.58 3.07 47.62
3pt% ft%
38.89 100.00

He was playing really, really well.

edit: Since my wonderful whitespace was stripped from above, let me just type this out: Exum was averaging (per 36) 18 pts and 8 asts on 47.6% fg shooting and 39% 3pt shooting with an ast/to ratio over 3 in those 11 games. He was actually playing 19 minutes a night.

During that stretch that he was playing really well was he playing in 2 minute stretches only?

Oliver Miller for sure... tractor traylor was big and got bigger... current bryon Russell is the fatest of them all.

Kemp got pretty chubby

He also gave me plenty of chubbies from his vicious dunks though. So at least there’s that

If Mudiay or Frankie Nik could get to the rim like Exum then sure, do it yesterday. But they cant... so what are you talking about?

Edit.

Im not sure how you find rhythm in 3minute bursts while rarely running the offense.

It isnt so much about finding rythym last night, it was about not completely ****ing up so bad that the jazz were gonna lose.

Typically i want exum to play over rubio and neto but last night he was playing so bad he might have cost us the game.

This franchise should change its name to the Utah Exums.

Yep. We win and thankfully nothing racist happened so we go right back to our usual debate over our backup PG who makes less than $10 million.

I wonder who everybody is going to cry about when Exum leaves. We going to re-sign CJ Miles or will everyone just turn on Korver?

When exum leaves I just hope we don’t sink nearly $50 million and fill a key rotation spot for 7 years on a career 6/2/2 player who can barely break 40% fg and 29% from 3, and can’t even play 60 games a season.

All the players exum compares to were cut from the nba within a season or two.

Really surprised dl didnt pull the trigger on the exum conley deal.

What was the deal? Exum and a first?

Including this year, Dante has been paid $25.93 million in his career. So over 5 years, he has made an average of $5.2 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nba/utah-jazz/dante-exum-15357/cash-earnings/

I'm disappointed in his injuries and his lack of development, but the amount of grief he gets is just ridiculous. For example, Thabo has made more than $5.2 million the last two years to provide less than what Exum has provided. Exum's contract has never kept us from other goals.

Like I have said in other threads; if Exum doesn't perform to his contract next season, dump on the guy. I will personally be much more critical of him next year when his contract can actually get in the way of team goals should he disappoint.
